Was ist Ihre Meinung dazu? Werden Sie heute einen fleischlosen Tag ausprobieren?

Vegetarianism and, to a lesser extent, veganism have become increasingly popular in recent years. It is now widely understood what it means to be a vegetarian, and fewer people view it negatively. This is good news, even for those who still enjoy eating meat occasionally. The truth is that our society consumes meat excessively, which is not good for our health or the environment. It is now easier than ever to be a vegetarian, as the options and availability of vegetarian food have greatly improved. The health benefits of vegetarianism, such as weight loss, improved digestion, and reduced risk of heart disease, are undeniable. Whether you choose to completely give up meat or simply reduce your consumption, you will feel the positive effects on your health. Vegetarianism also provides positive answers to questions about fiber, antioxidants, and natural vitamins, making it a worthwhile consideration for those seeking a healthy lifestyle. Even if you are a meat lover, it is worth trying a meat-free day as an experiment. This topic remains controversial, so what is your opinion? Will you try a day without meat?

This world has experienced its share of bloody wars that have ended countless lives and filled many others with sorrow. Regardless of which country you go to, there are stories of how someone's greed or desire for power led to the killing of innocent people, the destruction of beautiful cities, and the plundering of natural resources. Even wars fought for a good cause, such as the American Civil War, which resulted in the abolition of slavery, were responsible for a large number of deaths.

Fortunately, there are people in this world who have brought about changes they deemed necessary without violence or brute force, and it is these individuals that International Nonviolence Day celebrates.

International Nonviolence Day is celebrated on October 2nd in honor of Mahatma Gandhi's birthday, one of the most influential political activists of all time. Gandhi used nonviolent civil disobedience to eventually overthrow the British, who ruled India at the time. Despite being imprisoned multiple times, nothing ever compelled him to abandon his peaceful approach, which eventually led to India gaining the independence it had long yearned for.

However, his country's independence was not the only matter Gandhi considered important. He also actively sought to build good relationships between people of different religions and ethnicities, expand women's rights, and reduce poverty. Although he was assassinated by a Hindu nationalist in 1948, he has never been forgotten, and the majority of Indians refer to him as the father of the nation.

One of the best ways to honor the life and achievements of Mahatma Gandhi and other world leaders who won their battles without violence is to choose one of these individuals and read their biography, finding out what motivated them and what helped them maintain their strength even when they witnessed terrible things happening around them.

Such individuals include civil rights activists Martin Luther King Jr. and Rosa Parks, Beatles star John Lennon, humanitarian activist Harry Belafonte, and, of course, anti-apartheid leader Nelson Mandela. The life stories of each of these people are fascinating and inspiring. If you have children, this day could be an ideal time to teach them the virtues of courage, compassion, and perseverance.

Children can be cruel, so it is important to instill in them strong feelings of good and evil in the hope that they will become good, strong adults and worthy successors to the aforementioned individuals. After all, children are the future and the people who will shape history. Whether you decide to celebrate International Nonviolence Day, make sure you do what you can to honor the courage and goodness of people like Mahatma Gandhi and continue their legacy.

Svet zažil mnoho krvavých vojen, ktoré si vyžiadali mnoho životov a priniesli smútok. Napriek tomu existujú ľudia, ktorí dosiahli zmeny bez násilia a hrubej sily.

The World Day of Farm Animals is a day of mourning and remembrance for all animals that are imprisoned, tortured, and killed due to societal demand for products derived from their bodies. Modern ethological research shows that these animals are intelligent beings with rich emotional lives, and they are not fundamentally different from the animals we share our homes with as family members. They experience joy, sadness, pleasure, and pain, just like our beloved dogs and cats. Let us honor the memory of these innocent victims of human desires at a memorial gathering. The event will take place in many locations around the world and will be conducted in a solemn manner. Participants are requested to dress in formal mourning attire. The event can take various forms, with some cities organizing memorial gatherings in one location and others holding funeral processions with a symbolic coffin. Typical features of the event include solemn speeches that remind us of the billions of forgotten victims each year. More information about the World Day of Farm Animals can be found at httpssdhzcz.

Tyto údaje budou opět zpracovány a zveřejněny.

The Czech Society for Ornithology is organizing the WorldBirdwatch festival, which takes place every few years and involves non-European countries as well. During the festival, ornithologists record the number of observed bird species and individuals, with a focus on rare species. The data is processed and sent to the European coordinator, who then shares the results with the media. The invitation to the 2023 Bird Festival encourages people in the Czech Republic and other countries in Europe to participate in bird watching and contribute to the data collection. The results of this year's festival will be available on the Czech Society for Ornithology's website. There are 46 excursions planned throughout the country, organized by volunteers, with most of them taking place during the festival weekend. More information can be found on the website provided.

Počas výletov ornitológovia zaznamenávajú počet pozorovaných druhov a jedincov vtákov, najmä vzácne druhy a ďalšie zaujímavosti.

Why October 4th? This date was chosen in honor of Saint Francis of Assisi. Francis, the founder of the Franciscan order, preached a humble life in poverty and cared for abandoned and sick animals. According to historical sources, he spoke to animals and considered them not as lower beings than humans, but as his brothers and sisters, children of the same father. Such an approach to animals was not typical in Christianity. Francis of Assisi also anticipated the demands of ecological character, including the extension of human ethics to all living beings, which is why he became the patron of ecology. Francis died on October 4th, 1226, and for this reason, this date was later suitable for the declaration of World Animal Day.

World Animal Day has a well-established tradition in the Czech Republic and is becoming more and more known to a growing number of people. Its celebrations take place in various cities throughout the country. Zoos play a significant role in spreading this tradition, where lively celebrations with rich accompanying programs are held every year for both human visitors and animals. Animals from shelters also celebrate their day. The Animal Protection Foundation organizes annual celebrations of World Animal Day, combined with a charitable collection of breeding supplies for abandoned dogs and cats, and the acquired breeding aids are handed over to shelters.

Navíc mají dlouhou životnost a neobsahují toxické chemikálie. Přechod na LED osvětlení je tedy ekologickým a finančně výhodným řešením. Kromě výměny žárovek lze oslavit Change A Light Day i jinými energeticky úspornými kroky, jako je zlepšení izolace domu nebo instalace chytrého měřiče.

Save on your electricity bill and the environment by switching to LED lights, which consume less energy and are therefore cheaper and more environmentally friendly. Change A Light Day was created to encourage people to make a small change in their homes that would lead to lower energy consumption. LED lighting is ideal for any situation, whether it's a household or a business, as it is highly energy efficient. LED bulbs consume up to 90% less energy compared to traditional bulbs. Additionally, LED lights have a long lifespan, lasting up to 100,000 hours, and they emit minimal UV radiation and infrared light. LED lighting is also eco-friendly, as it reduces carbon emissions and does not contain toxic chemicals. Celebrate Change A Light Day by purchasing LED bulbs for your home and encouraging others to make the switch.

LED žiarovky tiež majú dlhú životnosť a neprodukujú takmer žiadne UV žiarenie ani infračervené svetlo.

Cities and local governments play a crucial role in responding to crises and planning for an inclusive, resilient, and green future. To prepare urban areas for future disasters, local action and implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals are more important than ever. This year's World Habitat Day focuses on the theme of Resilient Urban Economy: Cities as Drivers of Growth and Recovery, exploring how cities can improve their economies for the benefit of their residents. The Habitat Scroll of Honor Award, established by the United Nations Human Settlements Programme in 1989, recognizes initiatives that have made significant contributions in areas such as providing shelter, addressing homelessness, leading post-conflict reconstruction, and promoting the development and improvement of human settlements and urban quality of life.

It is not difficult to understand why World Architecture Day is important. Architects play a huge role in society, combining science and art with politics, economics, sociology, psychology, ecology, and more. We should appreciate their work and celebrate all the amazing things they have done and encourage them for what they will do in the future.

The challenges facing architects today are not small. Construction accounts for 37% of carbon dioxide emissions, consumes 50% of natural resources, and generates 40% of solid waste. The transformation towards sustainability largely depends on this industry. The concept of sustainable construction is widely known, but there is still a lack of knowledge about what it entails. Only one in five stakeholders in the construction industry systematically calculates the carbon footprint of a project. Nevertheless, every construction project starts with a design, so the future of sustainable construction lies in the hands of architects, who are celebrating their holiday today.

Geodiversity is a natural part of the planet that includes non-living elements such as minerals, rocks, fossils, soils, sediments, and landforms, as well as hydrological features like rivers and lakes. It provides materials for building cities and supports agricultural systems by providing soil and water. Geodiversity also serves as a source of energy production, including materials used for wind turbines and solar panels. It inspires artists and fascinates tourists with its diverse landscapes. However, most people are not aware of the extent to which we depend on geodiversity. Therefore, it is crucial to promote a better understanding of Earth's dynamic processes to ensure that citizens make informed political decisions for a more sustainable society, which is a key element in achieving the UN's Sustainable Development Goals by 2030. International Geodiversity Day provides an opportunity to showcase how education in geological sciences can provide sustainable solutions to urgent problems such as responsible resource extraction, disaster risk reduction, climate change mitigation, and loss of biodiversity. It also raises awareness of the critical connections between geodiversity and all forms of life. UNESCO, as the only UN body mandated to support research and capacity building in geology and geophysics, will use International Geodiversity Day to promote the goals of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and create new UNESCO Global Geoparks, particularly in Africa, the Arab region, and Latin America.

Prostredníctvom svojej rozmanitej krajiny farieb a foriem inšpiruje geodiverzita umelcov a fascinuje turistov.

The Energy Efficiency Day is a tradition that started in 2016. Its message can be summarized in three key words: save money, reduce pollution, and create job opportunities. As climate change continues, customers demand that companies act sustainably. Companies are becoming more aware of their responsibility, and the relevance of these demands is increasing. The Energy Efficiency Day focuses not only on motivating companies and educating about the issue but also on sharing know-how.

The partnership between the Energy Efficiency Day and Schneider Electric, a company whose business is based on the same principles, is one of the best partnerships that could have been formed. Schneider Electric's solutions, services, and products are used in various human activities, from industrial production to healthcare operations, transportation and energy infrastructure projects, and modern homes.

Efficient and eco-friendly operation of buildings and factories is essential. Schneider Electric has developed the EcoStruxure platform, which connects the entire enterprise, from floor to roof. The platform maximizes efficiency, optimizes energy consumption, and increases productivity. Real-time monitoring allows for proactive management, leading to significant cost savings.

The Svatopetrská project in Brno is a perfect example of Schneider Electric's modern technology transforming an old building into a combination of great living spaces and functional business areas. The KNX system and EcoStruxure control lighting, air conditioning, heating, water consumption, and energy distribution from a photovoltaic power plant. The project achieved a 25% reduction in electricity consumption and a 50% reduction in water consumption.

Reducing pollution and emissions is an essential part of taking care of our planet. Schneider Electric offers solutions that help achieve maximum efficiency, such as the Altivar Process system used in the water treatment plant in Písek. The company also developed technology for high-voltage switchgear that replaces the harmful SF6 gas with clean air, saving 24 kg of SF6 per average distribution substation.

Schneider Electric is committed to sharing its know-how and helping reduce pollution and achieve savings. The company has published several White Papers that provide valuable insights and supports the transition to a more sustainable future.

Schneider Electric not only sets high standards for its own facilities but also focuses on social impact. The company strives to improve opportunities for talents regardless of gender, race, origin, or age. Schneider Electric has been consistently recognized for its efforts, ranking high in the Corporate Knights' prestigious list.

In the Czech Republic, Schneider Electric is increasingly chosen as an employer by women, and the gender ratio is almost balanced. Globally, women make up 44% of the company's executive committee, surpassing the average for technical companies. Equileap, a provider of gender equality data and information, has ranked Schneider Electric among the top 20 companies in terms of gender balance.

The Energy Efficiency Day is not the only event promoting energy efficiency. The EKOkalendář calendar by the Ukliďme Česko association features over 240 environmental days and holidays, providing detailed information about them. The calendar also includes 365 eco-tips for each day. The printed EKOkalendář for 2024 can be purchased on the Ukliďme Česko FanShop.

Bavlna je hlavním zdrojem obživy a příjmů mnoha venkovských drobných zemědělců a dělníků, včetně žen, a poskytuje zaměstnání a příjem i v nejchudších venkovských oblastech.

The World Cotton Day initiative was born in 2019 when four cotton producers in sub-Saharan Africa - Benin, Burkina Faso, Chad, and Mali, known as the Cotton Four - proposed to the World Trade Organization to celebrate World Cotton Day on October 7th. Cotton is one of the most common fabrics in our wardrobes. It is a comfortable, hypoallergenic, breathable, and durable material. However, cotton represents much more than just a commodity. This natural fabric is a product that changes lives around the world, supporting 2.867 billion growers and benefiting over 100 million families in 75 countries on 5 continents. This means that behind every cotton garment, there is a personal story. While cotton is indeed important for developed economies, it serves as a lifeline for the least developed and developing countries. Cotton is the main source of livelihood and income for many rural small-scale farmers and workers, including women, providing employment and income to some of the poorest rural areas in the world. Iniciatíva Svetového dňa bavlny vznikla v roku 2019, keď štyria producenti bavlny v subsaharskej Afrike - Benin, Burkina Faso, Čad a Mali, známi ako Bavlnená štvorka, navrhli Svetovú obchodnú organizáciu oslavu Svetového dňa bavlny 7. októbra.

Octopuses deserve recognition for several reasons. Firstly, they are one of the oldest surviving creatures on Earth, with fossils dating back over 300 million years. They are also highly intelligent, with approximately 500 million neurons in their brains and tentacles, allowing them to learn and solve problems in ways that many other marine animals cannot. Octopuses are visually stunning, with a wide variety of colors, sizes, and shapes. Some can be found in shallow waters, while others live thousands of meters below the surface. They are known for their ability to change colors to blend in with their surroundings as a form of protection. Despite being introverted creatures, there are still plenty of ways to celebrate World Octopus Day. One suggestion is to help stop octopus farming by sending a message to the government of the Canary Islands using the hashtag #StopOctopusFarming. Another idea is to learn more about octopuses by reading about their fascinating lives through sources such as National Geographic, the National Wildlife Federation, and the Smithsonian Institute. Lastly, you can share fun facts about octopuses with friends and colleagues, such as their size, their ability to survive in extreme depths, their unique circulatory system with three hearts, and their intelligence in opening child-proof pill bottles.

The World Migratory Bird Day is an annual campaign that highlights the need for the protection of migratory birds and their habitats. The 2023 campaign focuses on the importance of water for migratory birds and the threats they face due to the increasing human demand for water, pollution, and climate change. Migration is a seasonal journey that birds undertake between their breeding and wintering grounds, with different species migrating different distances. Birds use various navigational cues, such as the Earth's magnetic field, olfactory perception, visual elements, and the position of the sun and stars. The study of bird migration has been facilitated by methods such as ringing and the use of telemetry devices. However, many questions about bird migration remain unanswered.

The International Day for Disaster Reduction aims to raise awareness about how human behavior can influence natural disasters, particularly climate change and global warming. Today, we have the ability to predict disasters such as earthquakes, floods, and hurricanes with great accuracy, but our ability to prevent them is still limited. On this day, it is important to reflect on how we can mitigate these disasters. For example, a documentary by ČT EDU titled "Natural Disasters Caused by Weather" provides a vivid explanation of tropical cyclones, including their types and occurrence, as well as tornadoes and floods.

It is estimated that in 2019, 53,6 million tons of electronic waste were generated, the highest amount ever, and it is expected to reach an incredible 75 million tons by 2030, which is 9 kg per person worldwide. However, less than 18 percent of this amount was officially documented last year. The rest ended up in landfills, incinerators, or was traded and processed improperly, resulting in a significant loss of valuable and critical raw materials from the supply chain. Electronic waste contains 69 elements from the periodic table, and recycling these materials can contribute to reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 15 million tons. The app "Kam s ním" provides a list of collection points for various types of waste, helping to minimize environmental impact. The minimum collection rate in EU member states is set at 65 percent of the average weight of appliances placed on the market in the previous three years or alternatively 85 percent of the manufactured appliances. This means collecting approximately 10 million tons, or about 20 kg per person. The International E-Waste Day can significantly contribute to raising awareness and improving the collection rate not only in the Czech Republic and Europe but globally.

Elektronický odpad obsahuje 69 prvkov periodického systému, a vďaka recyklácii môžeme tieto materiály vrátiť späť do výroby, čo len v roku 2019 celosvetovo prispelo k zníženiu produkcie skleníkových plynov o 15 miliónov ton.

The sloth is a solitary creature that lives a slow life and occupies only a small territory of about 0.05 km2. It prefers trees with many lianas and branches illuminated by direct sunlight. Usually, only one animal is found on one tree, and only the female lives with her offspring. Occasionally, males can be seen fighting and attacking each other with their claws.

Interesting facts about sloths:

- Unlike most mammals, sloths have a different number of neck vertebrae. The Bradypus genus has nine, while the Choloepus genus has six neck vertebrae. Additionally, sloths do not have a blind gut or a gallbladder. Up to two-thirds of a sloth's weight can be food in its digestive tract.

- Sloths are capable of surviving injuries that would kill other animals of the same size.

- The English name for the Hoffmann's two-toed sloth is named after the German naturalist Karl Hoffmann (1823-1859). The English word "sloth" means lazy.

In addition to algae, the sloth's fur is home to other species, such as the female moth Cryptoses choloepi, which lives in its fur and lays eggs in its droppings. The yellow-crowned manakin bird has also been observed searching for small invertebrates in the sloth's fur.

Both the brown-throated and Hoffmann's two-toed sloths are considered endangered species. They are primarily threatened by the loss of their natural habitat. Most sloth deaths in Costa Rica are caused by encounters with high-voltage wires or poachers.

Sloths, together with anteaters and armadillos, belong to the Xenarthra group, which appeared in South America 60 million years ago. However, it quickly diversified into a wide range of forms that inhabited all biotopes. Some ground sloths reached the size of an elephant.

The International Repair Day is a global initiative aimed at promoting the value of repairing things. It involves community repair events and social media campaigns to highlight the benefits of showing more love and care for our belongings. The day was first established in 2017 and has since grown to include Repair Cafes, Restart Parties, and movements like the Right to Repair. People celebrate the day by attending local repair events, sharing their repair stories on social media, and teaching others how to repair electronics and household items. In the Czech Republic, the project "Naučíme vás to opravit" (We Will Teach You to Repair) aims to increase the number of appliance repairers by involving schools and vocational training institutions. The project has seen an increase in student participation and aims to address the long-term shortage of repair technicians.

History of Arbor Day: Old and sacred groves have been revered and protected since ancient times. The first documented tree planting festival is from the Spanish village of Mondonedo in 1594. The place called Alameda de los Remedios is still planted with linden and ash trees, and a bronze memorial plaque commemorates this event. In 1951, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) adopted a resolution recommending that a World Tree Day be celebrated annually in all member states. In the Czech Republic, the idea of Arbor Day was brought by the Union of Beautification Associations, and it was first celebrated in April 1906. The tradition was interrupted by war and the communist regime, but it was revived in 2000. The history of Arbor Day in the Czech Republic continues to this day, with increasing interest in tree planting and conservation.

5 Steps to Protect Trees that Everyone Can Take
Today is Arbor Day, which falls on October 20th in Central Europe. The protection of our forests is becoming increasingly important as we begin to feel the constant rise in temperatures. Trees provide relief from the heat, not only for us but for the entire Earth. They are our allies in the fight against climate change, as each tree can absorb up to 2 tons of CO2 during its growth. However, due to global warming and drought, record areas of forests have burned in Canada, Russia, and other countries this year. Protecting old forests is more effective in combating climate change than planting new trees. In the Czech Republic, forests cover more than a third of the total area, and they should be given special attention to preserve these valuable ecosystems. Not everyone has the space and time for activism in the field, but our consumer behavior can make a difference. Here are 5 tips on how we can protect trees and contribute to climate change mitigation from the comfort of our homes: 1) Change your consumption habits and buy second-hand products; 2) Avoid buying products with palm oil; 3) Be cautious with paper consumption and choose digital alternatives; 4) Prefer wooden products with the FSC label, which guarantees responsible forest management; 5) Stop procrastination and global warming by using the Forest app, which helps increase productivity and plants real trees. Taking steps to protect our forests is a step towards preserving our planet.

S nápadom obnoviť túto tradíciu v Českej republike prišli bývalý riaditeľ Botanickej záhrady Univerzity Karlovej a známy popularizátor stromov Václav Větvička a drevo-sochár Martin Patřičný.

Our ancestors relied on apples as their main source of fruit and health throughout the winter. Local fruit growers developed varieties ideal for the local climate and had years of experience in their cultivation. However, these old and abandoned orchards or roadside trees are now at risk of extinction as entrepreneurs buy neglected land for cheap and use it as a source of subsidies. We now find imported apples from Spain or Italy on store shelves, and only a few grandmothers make preserves and syrups for their grandchildren. There are also fewer people who know how to care for fruit trees or even recognize their varieties. Most of us are only familiar with modern varieties of imported apples from supermarkets, so we mainly ask for them in nurseries when buying an apple tree for our garden. We rarely consider that seventy-year-old trees growing in abandoned and overgrown orchards outside the village are valuable local varieties. The return of high-stem fruit trees is a very important and indispensable historical element of the local landscape, especially in terms of landscape character. Such an alley lining a road completes and enriches the existing ecosystem. Today, we have few opportunities to walk through an apple alley that offers unexpected beauty of its flowers, leaves, or the scent and taste of sweet colorful fruits in every season. This is also related to the question of why cider presses, fruit dryers, and distilleries have disappeared. Many old varieties are adaptable to the location, reliably bear fruit even in worse conditions, and are hardy against frost and most diseases. Some of them are not inferior in taste to modern apple varieties, such as the old variety Matčino Grávštýnské, red Kalvil, white Kalvil, or the almost forgotten apples Sudetská Reneta, Panenské české, and Řehtáč soudkovitý. These varieties are truly for gourmets. These apple trees are a product of nature and humans who found it worth cultivating them for centuries. We should have respect for them as varieties and for old trees. In the cultural landscape, it has become a tradition to plant trees. If we want to preserve it, you can also celebrate the Day of Original Apple Varieties by planting an apple tree on your land this autumn, but consider carefully which one. Don't forget about suitable living conditions for the tree, a suitable location, enough space, and time. If you have plenty of apple trees in your garden and a rich harvest this year, celebrate this day with your own cider. Source: Ekocentrum Kavyl

Našim predkom poskytovali jablká hlavný zdroj ovocia a zdravia počas celej zimy. Prečo obce nevysádzajú ovocné aleje a stromoradia do krajiny? Návrat ovocných vysokokmeňov je veľmi dôležitým a nenahraditeľným historickým prvkom miestnej krajiny, najmä z hľadiska krajinného rázu. Taká alej lemujúca cestu dotvára a obohacuje súčasný ekosystém.

The snow leopard, also known as the irbis or snow leopard, is a large cat species native to the mountainous regions of Central Asia. It resembles a leopard but is slightly smaller and more robust. The snow leopard's habitat consists mainly of mountain meadows and pastures above the forest line. It primarily preys on mountain ungulates, but also hunts smaller animals such as rodents and birds. The population of wild snow leopards is difficult to monitor due to the inaccessibility of their habitat, but estimates from 2003-2014 range from 3,920 to 7,500 individuals. The species is classified as vulnerable and is protected by legislation, but its main threat is still illegal hunting and poaching for the lucrative trophy trade. Conservation projects for the snow leopard have been established in recent decades, including the Global Snow Leopard & Ecosystem Protection Program, which aims to identify and protect at least 20 healthy populations across the species' range by 2020. In captivity, the snow leopard has been successfully bred, with over 500 individuals in zoos worldwide. The snow leopard is not a common heraldic animal, but it is featured in the coat of arms of the Russian republic of Khakassia and the cities of Almaty and Bishkek. It was also one of the mascots for the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia.

WAS PASSIERT

- Oberflächentemperaturen erreichen neue Rekorde
- Der Anstieg des Meeresspiegels erfolgt besorgniserregend schnell
- Gletscher schwinden weltweit
- Unsere Ozeane sind saurer als je zuvor
- Der Anstieg von Naturkatastrophen hält an

WAS TUN

Every one of us is already feeling the impact of climate change. According to the Norwegian Refugee Council, three times more people are fleeing their homes due to extreme environmental events than due to war or civil conflicts. Climate justice means that countries that bear the main responsibility for global warming must take global responsibility for the consequences and mitigation of climate change. Climate justice also includes intergenerational equality and responsibility for the environment. Instead of leaving future generations with environmental conditions that are at least as good as they are now, a high level of CO2 emissions leads to a situation where future generations have to overcome the unpredictable impacts of climate change.

WHAT IS HAPPENING:

- Surface temperatures are setting new heat records.
- The sea level is rising alarmingly fast.
- Glaciers are retreating worldwide.
- Our oceans are more acidic than ever before.
- Natural disasters are increasing.

WHAT TO DO:

- Change perspectives: Encourage individuals to think about what the world means to them and how they can show their appreciation by protecting and preserving the environment through a willingness to change destructive habits.
- Learn: Climate change is one of the biggest problems we face today, and it is essential that we learn not only the science but also its impact on the world and the changes necessary to preserve Mother Earth.
- Take action: Encourage and involve individuals in the community to contribute to the protection of our planet by choosing reusable products instead of disposable ones, or by recycling paper, plastics, newspapers, glass, and aluminum, or simply by planting trees.
- Celebrate: Climate change is caused by humans, and only humans have the power to change it. Encourage individuals in your surroundings to take a personal inventory of their habits and their impact on the planet and then organize or participate in activities that celebrate our planet.

ClimateActionDay

- Začať konať: Povzbudiť a zapojiť jednotlivcov v komunite, aby prispeli svojou časťou k ochrane

The animal world does not know human qualities such as envy, greed, or injustice, but it is full of emotions such as joy, love for their owner, fear, and pain. Dogs, cats, hamsters, rabbits, hedgehogs, ferrets, parrots, fish, and other domestic and farm animals deserve a healthy and happy life. They need love, proper nutrition, suitable space, and responsible care from their owners. 70 percent of people in our country have a pet, and they spend an average of around a thousand crowns per month on them. Let's not forget about animals in shelters. The exact number of these animals is not known, but the numbers of abandoned or lost animals are in the tens of thousands. There are a total of about 300 shelters in the Czech Republic. Bringing food, toys, or even walking one of the dogs in these shelters would certainly be a nice gift, not only on this holiday.

Donald Watson, the founder of The Vegan Society in England in 1944, was the first person to use the word "vegan". In a recent interview, he discussed his views on veganism, his relationship with animals, and the roots of his ideas that have resonated with millions of people worldwide. Watson's childhood memories on his uncle's farm, where he witnessed the killing of a pig, had a profound impact on him and made him question the treatment of animals. Becoming a vegetarian at the age of 14 and a vegan at 35, Watson believes that humans forcing themselves to be carnivores is against their nature and the rights of animals. He also discusses the challenges of being a vegan in a society that revolves around food and the social aspect of veganism. Watson believes that veganism allows one's conscience to be truly clean and encourages vegetarians to see it as a stepping stone towards veganism. He also acknowledges the importance of direct action in helping animals but cautions that some actions may be counterproductive. Watson's message to vegans is to remember that veganism is about living compassionately and thoughtfully, and that it goes beyond finding alternative recipes or studying nutritional studies. It is about understanding the simple and direct facts and arguments and finding one's own path.

Watson acknowledged the value of direct action in animal rights activism but also recognized the complexity of the issue. He emphasized that vegetarianism is a stepping stone towards veganism and that the ultimate goal is to live compassionately and considerately towards all beings. Watson's greatest achievement in life, he believed, was contributing to the energy that can make the world a better place for all creatures. His message to vegans is to remember that veganism is more than just finding alternatives to animal products; it is about living with compassion and finding one's own path.

Most people believe that the origin of World Jellyfish Day probably comes from a group of enthusiastic marine biologists or simply from those who respect these strange yet beautiful creatures. The largest populations of jellyfish are found in the southern hemisphere in places like Australia and South Africa, where beaches are teeming with these interesting but sometimes dangerous creatures.

How to celebrate World Jellyfish Day
It is clear that commemorating this event can be a bit challenging. It is obvious that you cannot take a jellyfish to dinner or enjoy a day at the spa with it. However, simply traveling to the beach in the hope of spotting one is a fun idea that can be realized if you live near or happen to be by the sea. Try these other ideas to enjoy the celebration of World Jellyfish Day.

Learn fun facts about jellyfish
Enter this day by paying attention to jellyfish and learning more about their lives. Try these fun facts that you can share with friends when reminding them that it is World Jellyfish Day.

- Jellyfish not only do not have bones or a heart, but they also do not have a brain, only a central nervous system. However, this does not prevent them from being intelligent and adapting to their environment.
- Some jellyfish can glow in the dark. Those that have this ability have bioluminescent organs that emit either green or blue light, which is activated by touch. This serves as a defense mechanism to scare away predators.
- One giant species of jellyfish is called the Hair Jelly. The largest one ever recorded was found in a washed-up sea in Massachusetts, USA, in 1870. It had tentacles over 40 meters long.

Visit an aquarium
On this day, when visiting an aquarium, get acquainted with some jellyfish and their marine friends.

With advances in health science, we have learned how including certain elements in our diet can improve our health or be harmful to a long and healthy life. Salt has been a central component of many recipes and cuisines, which has led to heart health issues because a high-sodium diet can lead to high blood pressure in sodium-sensitive individuals. The food we eat contains building blocks that enter our bodies, and just like any construction, if we use low-quality materials, we cannot expect the building to last for ages. There is a common misconception that healthy food must taste bad, but the truth is that healthy food can be some of the most delicious things you put in your mouth. Fresh fruit, spicy low-fat chicken, crispy tasty salads, and countless nuts, seeds, and berries await you to find the time to get to know them. As Eat Healthy Day approaches, why not take the time to explore your diet and reflect on how you eat? Celebrating Eat Healthy Day can be a fun and tasty experience if you dive into it. Overall, you need to take some time to think about what you eat and consider portion control. The problem is often not necessarily what we eat, but simply how much of it we consume. Anything out of balance can become a problem, so today, consider how you can make better choices for your health.

The International Day for the Prevention of Environmental Destruction during Armed Conflicts aims to raise awareness that wars not only harm humans but also the environment. Throughout history, the environment has often been an unacknowledged victim of war, with water wells being polluted, crops burned, forests destroyed, and land poisoned to gain military advantage. The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) has found that at least 40% of all internal conflicts in the past 60 years have been linked to the exploitation of natural resources, including high-value resources like timber, diamonds, gold, and oil, as well as vital resources like fertile land and water. It has also been found that conflicts related to natural resources are twice as likely to recur. The United Nations attaches great importance to ensuring that environmental measures are part of conflict prevention strategies, peacekeeping, and peacebuilding, as lasting peace cannot exist if the natural resources that sustain livelihoods and ecosystems are destroyed. On May 27, 2016, the UN Environment Assembly adopted resolution UNEP/EA.2/Res.15, which recognized the role of healthy ecosystems and sustainably managed resources in reducing the risk of armed conflicts and reaffirmed its strong commitment to the full implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals set out in General Assembly resolution 70/1, entitled "Transforming Our World: the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development." This International Day takes on new significance for us in light of the war in Ukraine and currently, especially in Palestine/Israel.

Unfortunately, there are many places in the world where these freedoms are not accessible to the majority of people who are forced to live empty and unfulfilling lives so that the rulers of their countries do not imprison them or something worse.

If you do not know what it means to be afraid to express your opinion, then you can consider yourself very lucky to live in a place where freedom is a priority and a basic human right. And like everything good, freedom should be celebrated, and that is what World Freedom Day is about.

For many people, it is crazy to think about a world without freedom. Many people have experienced freedom throughout their lives. But for many people, this is not the case, and that is why it is important for us to understand this and find ways to make changes.

History of World Freedom Day
World Freedom Day was created as a reminder of the fall of the Berlin Wall. The date is not so much about the wall itself, but rather about what it symbolized. The fall of this wall meant the end of communism in Central and Eastern Europe.

It was created to celebrate the reunification of loved ones separated by the Iron Curtain and different ideologies, and ultimately serves as recognition that the determination of the masses can push boundaries, break unfavorable resolutions, and ultimately determine the type of leadership they desire to live in a freer and more just society.

The relationship between humans and animals dates back to the history of mankind and beyond. As co-inhabitants of the planet, animals and humans share resources and ideally develop mutually beneficial ways of existence. However, there are times when animals are not treated as they deserve. Human Animal Relationship Awareness Week (HARA) aims to improve human knowledge in order to enhance the lives of animals we all love and need, and to create communities that are more humane and compassionate. HARA works to improve the lives of animals and also to change the way people behave towards them worldwide. The goal of Human Animal Relationship Awareness Week is to raise awareness about the plight of animals, offer education and better resources to build better relationships in the future.

The influence of science on people's everyday lives and its profound social consequences, including ethical and ecological ones, make scientific literacy an essential prerequisite for effective democratic processes. At the World Conference on Science in Budapest, Hungary in July 1999, co-organized by UNESCO and the International Council for Science, many delegates expressed support for greater public awareness of science. Delegations from Ethiopia and Malawi, along with the British Association for the Advancement of Science, proposed the creation of World Science Day or World Science Week.

By fostering closer connections between science and society, World Science Day aims to ensure that citizens are informed about developments in science. It also emphasizes the role of scientists in expanding our understanding of the planet we call home and in creating more sustainable societies.

The goals of World Science Day for Peace and Development (STEM) are:

- Strengthen public awareness of the role of science in peaceful and sustainable societies.
- Promote national and international solidarity for shared science among countries.
- Renew national and international commitment to using science for the benefit of society.
- Highlight the challenges that science faces and increase support for scientific efforts.

For thousands of years, science and technology have played a huge role in shaping the future of humanity. In the future, they will help humanity fight its greatest battle: climate change. While renewable technologies such as solar and wind energy will be crucial in helping us reduce carbon emissions, there are several major obstacles to their integration into electrical grids. One of the main problems is that these technologies are not yet advanced enough to handle power outages caused by natural disasters and potential terrorist attacks. Progress in renewable and artificial technologies is expected to help address this. However, for these technologies to become a reality, the public needs to be more aware of their importance.

Individuals and institutions around the world are encouraged to organize events or activities on World Science Day, including government officials, students, media, and schoolchildren. World Science Day for Peace and Development has created many specific projects, programs, and funding for science worldwide.

If you are looking for your own inspiration for STEM, there are many success stories about how volunteers, partners, educators, and students have a positive impact on the world, whether by solving problems through creative innovations or inspiring the next generation through engaging programs. Explore their stories and share their successes on the IEEE PreUniversity STEM Portal website.

Vďaka užšiemu prepojeniu vedy so spoločnosťou má Svetový deň vedy za cieľ zabezpečiť, aby boli občania informovaní o vývoji vo vede.

- Obnoviť národný a medzinárodný záväzok využívať vedu v prospech spoločnosti.

The UNESCO Declaration confirms that tolerance is not about indulgence or indifference, but about respecting and appreciating the rich diversity of our world cultures, expressions, and ways of being. Tolerance recognizes universal human rights and the basic freedoms of others. People are naturally diverse, and only tolerance can ensure the survival of mixed communities in every region of the world.

The UNESCO-Madanjeet Singh Prize for the Promotion of Tolerance and Non-Violence was established in 1995 on the occasion of the United Nations Year for Tolerance and the 125th anniversary of the birth of Mahatma Gandhi. The prize recognizes significant activities in the scientific, artistic, cultural, or communication fields that promote the spirit of tolerance and non-violence. The creation of the prize was inspired by the ideals of the UNESCO Constitution, which states that if peace is not to fail, it must be founded on the intellectual and moral solidarity of humanity. The prize is awarded every two years on International Day for Tolerance, November 16. It can be awarded to institutions, organizations, or individuals who have made particularly meritorious and effective contributions to tolerance and non-violence.

Tolerancia uznáva univerzálne ľudské práva a základné slobody druhých.

Aplikace wwwKAMsNIMcz poskytuje informace o nejbližších veřejných toaletách a zdrojích pitné vody.

When the Sustainable Development Goals Report 2020 was released, UN Secretary-General António Guterres stated that Goal 6 of sustainable development is off track and hindering progress in the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for human rights and achieving peace and security worldwide. The World Toilet Day exists to inform, engage, and inspire people to take action towards achieving this goal. The United Nations General Assembly declared World Toilet Day as an official UN day in 2013, following a resolution presented by Singapore. Prior to that, World Toilet Day was unofficially established by the World Toilet Organization, a non-governmental organization based in Singapore, in 2001. The official organizer of World Toilet Day is UNWater, which manages the official website of World Toilet Day and selects a special theme for each year. In 2022, the theme is Sanitation and how it protects groundwater. Toilets are important because access to safe and functioning toilets has a positive impact on public health, human dignity, and personal safety, especially for women. Sanitation systems that do not safely treat excreta can lead to the spread of diseases such as cholera, diarrhea, typhoid, dysentery, and schistosomiasis. However, if you have access to a hygienic and safe toilet, you are among the fortunate people in the world. In addition to places to properly sort waste, the website wwwKAMsNIMcz also includes locations where you can find the nearest toilet or drinking water tap.

Aplikácia KAMsNIM.sk navyše poskytuje informácie o najbližších verejných toaletách a pitnej vode.

Darum geht es beim Use Less Stuff Day.

The Use Less Stuff Day was established as part of a campaign to save the environment and the world. It aims to encourage people to reduce their consumption of unnecessary items and to be more mindful of their impact on the planet. Every year, we use tons of plastic bottles and create microplastics that end up in the ocean. Non-governmental organizations are working to raise awareness and promote resource conservation. Celebrating the Use Less Stuff Day can involve using a water filter instead of buying bottled water, brewing your own coffee instead of using disposable cups, and checking for plastic microbeads in personal care products. The goal is to control our resource consumption and make more sustainable choices.

Každý rok používame doslova tuny plastových fliaš, máme mikrokuličky z našich šampónov a pleťových peelingov, ktoré si nájdu cestu do oceánu, premrhávame obrovské množstvo zdrojov, zatiaľ čo pokračujeme v vylepšovaní toho, čo vlastníme, a vyhadzujeme minuloročné modely.

Poďte si do kohútika kúpiť filter a naliať si ju sami do sklenených fľašiek. Obvykle sa ráno zastavíte a dáte si kávu v jednorazovom kelímku. Namiesto toho si ju uvaríte doma a zachrá

Im Jahr 1997 fand das World Forum of Fish Harvesters & Fish Workers in Neu-Delhi statt, was zur Gründung des World Fisheries Forum führte.

In 1997, the World Forum of Fish Harvesters and Fish Workers met in New Delhi, leading to the creation of the World Fisheries Forum with representatives from 18 countries. They signed a declaration advocating for a global mandate of sustainable fishing practices and measures. Fishing, along with aquaculture, provides food, nutrition, and income for approximately 820 million people worldwide. However, one of the biggest threats to the sustainability of global fishery resources is illegal, unreported, and unregulated fishing. The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) points out that almost 90% of global marine fish populations have been fully exploited, overfished, or depleted to the point where recovery may not be biologically possible. The release of harmful substances, such as plastics and other waste, into water bodies has devastating consequences for aquatic life. Recent research shows that over 50% of plastic waste in the oceans, including the Great Pacific Garbage Patch, consists of fishing nets that hold this plastic island together. The accumulation of waste produced by industrial fishing in the oceans has many negative impacts, including the danger of injury or death to marine animals and the release of microplastic particles. We should not panic, as suggested by this Netflix documentary, but rather take action to address these issues.

V roce 1997 se konalo setkání World Forum of Fish Harvesters amp Fish Workers v New Delhi, které vedlo k vytvoření World Fisheries Forum se zástupci z 18 zemí.

The Fibonacci Day celebrates the sequence discovered by Leonardo of Pisa, also known as Fibonacci, in 1202. The sequence, which is found in nature and art, is closely related to the golden ratio. To celebrate Fibonacci Day, one can learn more about the sequence and its applications, such as creating a Fibonacci sequence by adding the last two numbers. The sequence can be found in various aspects of nature, such as flower petals, pinecones, and snail shells. Additionally, there are higher-order Fibonacci sequences, such as the Tribonacci and Tetranacci sequences. The EKOkalendář project offers more than 240 environmental holidays and tips, including Fibonacci Day, in their electronic calendar.

The Turtle Adoption Day was established in 2011 when Christine Shaw wrote a blog post about adopting turtles. Since then, the day has grown to involve more people in communities around the world. Many different turtle species are endangered and need help for their survival, and various conservation groups are working diligently to assist them. Unlike World Turtle Day, which is celebrated globally on May 23rd, Turtle Adoption Day focuses more locally on turtles in need. It is also about rescuing local turtles that need to be adopted as pets. Sometimes people take a turtle home as a pet for their child and then realize that it is much more work than expected, so they surrender it to an animal shelter. These turtles are then placed for adoption by local individuals and families. Turtle Adoption Day is a reminder that these adorable creatures need help and is an ideal opportunity to raise awareness about them.

How to celebrate Turtle Adoption Day:
Consider some of these ideas to celebrate Turtle Adoption Day:
- Adopt a turtle: Turtles can be pets for many different people. While they require love and care, they are less demanding in some ways than other pets. Start by doing research to find out their needs and how to care for them. Then, if you are still interested, visit a local animal rescue shelter to find out what options they may have for turtle adoption. If there are no turtles available for immediate adoption, it may be possible to have your name put on a waiting list.
- Contribute to turtle conservation: If you are not ready to bring a turtle home as a pet, that's okay. There are many other ways you can get involved in Turtle Adoption Day. For example, knowing that some turtle species are endangered, especially sea turtles, consider making a donation to an organization that helps with turtle conservation. Save the Turtles, Turtle Conservancy, Turtle Foundation, and Turtle Conservation Fund are just some of the organizations that work hard to help turtles live better lives worldwide.

Obchodníci cenu zboží nadsadí a slevu vypočítají z této vyšší částky. Začátky Buy Nothing Day nebyly snadné. V roce 2000 byl některým reklamám Adbusters podporujících Buy Nothing Day odepřen reklamní čas téměř všemi hlavními televizními sítěmi kromě CNN.

The first Buy Nothing Day was organized in Canada in September 1992 as a day to examine the problem of excessive consumption. In 1997, it was moved to the Friday after American Thanksgiving, also known as Black Friday, which is one of the ten busiest shopping days not only in the United States.

According to estimates, Czech customers spend about five to six thousand crowns during Black Friday, while the average annual donation for charity projects is around 500 crowns. Czechs have the opportunity to reflect on where they send their money, as evidenced by the amount of 95 million crowns raised for charity projects during Giving Tuesday, compared to the up to seven billion spent on Black Friday.

What started as a day full of discounts has turned into a week or even a month dedicated to shopping and consumption. People buy goods that end up discarded in the back of the closet or even in landfills, often with so-called fake discounts. Every year, the media warns against fake discounts that are typical for Black Friday. According to retailers, discounts can reach up to 80%, but in the Czech market, real discounts only reach about 19%. Retailers inflate the price of goods and calculate the discount from this higher amount.

Instead of unnecessary spending, support organizations like Ukliďme Česko, which not only organizes volunteer clean-ups but also focuses on innovative projects for environmental protection, such as www.KAMsNIM.cz or www.EKOkalendar.cz.

The beginnings of Buy Nothing Day were not easy. In 2000, some advertisements supporting Buy Nothing Day were denied advertising time by almost all major television networks, except for CNN. However, the campaign soon began to appear in the United States, the United Kingdom, Israel, Austria, Germany, New Zealand, Japan, the Netherlands, France, Norway, Finland, and now practically all over the world.

And above all, remember that if you don't buy any junk, you don't have to worry about where to put it.

GivingTuesday was created in 2012 as a simple idea to encourage people to do good. Since then, it has grown into a year-round global movement that inspires hundreds of millions of people to give, collaborate, and celebrate generosity. It was also created as a counterpoint to Black Friday, aiming to fight against the consumerism associated with it. According to a new study, the average Czech customer spends around 5,000 to 6,000 crowns on Black Friday, while the average annual donation to charitable projects is around 500 crowns. GivingTuesday encourages people to show kindness and generosity by helping others and making a positive impact on the world. There are various ways to get involved, such as donating money to non-profit organizations, giving away unused items to those in need, or becoming a volunteer blood donor. By supporting initiatives like "Ukliďme Česko" (Let's Clean Czechia), which focuses on environmental protection projects, individuals can contribute to building a better world. The message is to prioritize acts of kindness over consumerism and join the collective journey towards a happy ending where good triumphs over consumption.

The Reverse Advent Calendar campaign aims to raise awareness about the unnecessary waste of usable items and to help those in need. Participants are encouraged to donate one unwanted item from their household every day during Advent, with a focus on warm men's clothing, footwear, and winter accessories. The donated items will be distributed to those in need. Collection points for other usable items such as furniture, household appliances, toys, books, non-perishable food, and sports equipment can be found easily using the KAMsNIMcz application. The project is supported by the Charity Pot program of LUSH, a manufacturer and retailer of handmade fresh cosmetics. Please help us spread the word about the Reverse Advent Calendar campaign by sharing on social media. Thank you for your help, not only during Advent, and we wish you all the best for the rest of this year and the next.

Česká republika podepsala úmluvu o mezinárodním obchodu s nebezpečnými chemickými látkami a pesticidy s cílem ochrany lidského zdraví a životního prostředí.

Juni 1999 in New York unterzeichnet.

The Czech Republic signed this convention in New York on June 22, 1999. The goal of the convention is to promote shared responsibility and collective efforts of the contracting parties in international trade of certain hazardous chemicals and pesticides in order to protect human health and the environment from potential damage and contribute to their environmentally friendly use by facilitating the exchange of information about their properties, securing the national decision-making process on their import and export, and disseminating these decisions among the contracting parties. Since Bhopal, the global use of pesticides has more than doubled to over four million tons per year, despite scientific research clearly showing that the use of chemically synthesized pesticides is one of the main reasons for the dramatic decline in pollinating insects, often referred to as the extinction of bees. Most flowering plants worldwide rely on pollinators, including almost all varieties of fruit or vegetable crops. The loss of pollinators therefore has serious consequences for the ecosystems in which they live and also threatens global food production and our future food security. In some countries, the dramatic decline in natural pollinators has created a situation where pollination now has to be done manually, examples include the cultivation of passion fruit in Brazil and almond plantations in China. Biodiversity is not the only victim of pesticide use. Pesticides have significant negative effects on soil, water, and human health. Every year, about 41 million people suffer from the consequences of accidental pesticide poisoning, including those who work in agriculture and residents of surrounding communities. Recent numbers from the World Health Organization (WHO) also show how pesticides play a major role in hundreds of thousands of suicides due to the availability of these highly toxic substances.

Česká republika podpísala túto dohodu v New Yorku 22. júna 1999.

Strata opelovačov má preto vážne dôsledky pre ekosystémy, v ktorých žijú, a zároveň ohrozuje globálnu produkciu potravín a našu budúcu potravinovú bezpečnosť. V niektorých krajinách dramatický úbytok prirodzených opelovačov vytvoril situáciu, keď sa teraz opelenie musí vykonávať ručne, príklady zahŕňajú pestovanie mučenky v Brazílii a tiež mandľové plantáže v Číne.

Biologická rozmanitosť nie je jedinou obeťou používania pesticídov. Pesticídy majú významné negatívne účinky na pôdu, vodu a ľudské zdravie. Každý rok trpí následkami n

Make a Gift Day je den, kdy se lidé povzbuzují k vytvoření ručně vyrobeného dárku pro své blízké. V minulosti byly ručně vyrobené dárky běžné a vyjadřovaly lásku a péči, kterou dárce věnoval příjemci. Make a Gift Day nás vyzývá, abychom se vrátili k této tradici a vytvořili něco osobního a originálního.

Make a Gift Day is a special day dedicated to giving handmade gifts to loved ones. It encourages people to use their skills and creativity to create something unique and personal. The history of Make a Gift Day goes back to a time when handmade gifts were the norm, before factories and electronics took over. The day is a reminder to cherish the thought and effort that goes into making a handmade gift. There are many ways to celebrate Make a Gift Day, such as making a handmade gift, drawing or painting something, sewing or knitting a gift, baking something special, or learning a new crafting skill. No matter what the gift is, the recipient will know how much they are loved. So don't hesitate and make a gift!

Cheetahs are highly skilled and powerful machines designed by Mother Nature to do one job: accelerate faster than a Ferrari, going from 0 to 75 mph in just 3 seconds. This incredible speed is what makes cheetahs the fastest land mammals in the wild. However, their population has drastically decreased, with only 8,000 cheetahs remaining in the wild, making them the most endangered big cat in Africa. In order to raise awareness about these magnificent creatures, International Cheetah Day was established on December 4th. This day is an opportunity to learn more about cheetahs through activities such as watching documentaries, participating in events at local zoos, and reading books about cheetahs. It is also a chance to organize cheetah-themed parties and fundraisers to support organizations like the Cheetah Conservation Fund and the African Wildlife Foundation, which work towards protecting and conserving cheetahs and their habitats. With community involvement and support, we can help slow down the extinction of cheetahs.

On the occasion of International Soil Day, we should realize the importance of soil and its significance. Soil is essential for food production, filtering water, and storing carbon. However, healthy soil is becoming scarce due to deforestation, climate change, and intensive agriculture. One solution is biodynamic farming, which focuses on caring for the soil and using natural methods to increase its fertility. Everyone can contribute to the healthy development of soil by planting flower meadows, practicing green manure, and buying organic food.
