Projekt byl podpořen dotačním programem Charity Pot od firmy LUSH, výrobce a prodejce ručně vyráběné kosmetiky.

The Reverse Advent Calendar campaign aims to raise awareness about the unnecessary waste of usable items and to help those in need. Česká republika podepsala úmluvu o mezinárodním obchodu s nebezpečnými chemickými látkami a pesticidy s cílem ochrany lidského zdraví a životního prostředí. Od Bhópálu se celosvětové používání pesticidů více než zdvojnásobilo, což má negativní dopad na opylující hmyz a ekosystémy. Ztráta opylovačů ohrožuje globální produkci potravin. The Czech Republic signed this convention in New York on June 22, 1999. The goal of the convention is to promote shared responsibility and collective efforts of the contracting parties in international trade of certain hazardous chemicals and pesticides in order to protect human health and the environment from potential damage and contribute to their environmentally friendly use by facilitating the exchange of information about their properties, securing the national decision-making process on their import and export, and disseminating these decisions among the contracting parties. Since Bhopal, the global use of pesticides has more than doubled to over four million tons per year, despite scientific research clearly showing that the use of chemically synthesized pesticides is one of the main reasons for the dramatic decline in pollinating insects, often referred to as the extinction of bees. Most flowering plants worldwide rely on pollinators, including almost all varieties of fruit or vegetable crops. The loss of pollinators therefore has serious consequences for the ecosystems in which they live and also threatens global food production and our future food security. In some countries, the dramatic decline in natural pollinators has created a situation where pollination now has to be done manually, examples include the cultivation of passion fruit in Brazil and almond plantations in China. Biodiversity is not the only victim of pesticide use. Pesticides have significant negative effects on soil, water, and human health. Every year, about 41 million people suffer from the consequences of accidental pesticide poisoning, including those who work in agriculture and residents of surrounding communities. Recent numbers from the World Health Organization (WHO) also show how pesticides play a major role in hundreds of thousands of suicides due to the availability of these highly toxic substances.

Česká republika podpísala túto dohodu v New Yorku 22. júna 1999. Účastníci mohou sčítat ptáky na svých krmítkách, zahradách nebo jiných místech, která si sami vyberou. Během hodiny pozorování si zaznamenávají nejvyšší počet současně pozorovaných jedinců každého druhu. Krmítka je možné naplnit různými druhy potravy, jako jsou semena, ořechy nebo tukové směsi. Je však důležité dbát na správné umístění a čištění krmítek, aby nedocházelo k šíření chorob mezi ptáky. Ptačí hodinka je důležitá i pro získání informací o druzích, které se v Česku zimují, ale nejsou typicky krmítkové. Účastníci se mohou pomocí výukových materiálů naučit rozlišovat ptačí druhy. I negativní pozorování, kdy se ptáci neobjeví, mají ve výzkumu svůj význam.

Úspech tohto prvého neformálneho Svetského dňa logiky bol súčasťou rokovaní 40. generálnej konferencie UNESCO, ktorá viedla k formálnemu vyhláseniu tohto dňa. V 21. storočí je logika mimoriadne aktuálna pre naše spoločnosti, ekonomiky a udržateľnosť. The idea has a global impact, as it helps preserve biodiversity and promotes a healthy relationship with the soil. Seed libraries are often located in cafes, libraries, community gardens, and shops. The principle is similar to libraries - what is borrowed should be returned. There are three key factors that affect seed germination: moisture, temperature, and sowing depth. Seeds need moisture to germinate, and soaking them in water can help speed up the process. Soaking should last for one to two days, and the seeds should be completely submerged. However, they should be planted before the sprout emerges from the seed coat.

Sdílenie semien môže byť skvelou rodinnou tradíciou, darom a spôsobom recyklácie. V Českej republike existuje viac ako 230 Semínkovní, kde si ľudia môžu medzi sebou voľne vymieňať semienka zo svojich záhrad. Táto iniciatíva má za cieľ podporovať slobodné zdieľanie semien, domáce pestovanie a prírodné záhradníctvo. Semínka musia byť nechemicky ošetrené a v bio kvalite. Semínkovne sú často umiestnené v kaviarňach, knižniciach, komunitných záhradách a obchodoch. Semínkovna je označená krabica s vreckami semien, ktoré si ľudia môžu požičať a potom vrátiť. Pre úspešné pestovanie rastlín zo semien sú dôležité tri faktory: vlhkosť, teplota a hĺbka výsevu. Semená sa prebúdzajú vo vlhkosti, preto je dôležité ich pravidelne zavlažovať. Niektoré semená môžu byť pred výsevom namočené vo vode, čo urýchli ich klíčenie.

Den bez palmového oleje je akce, která připomíná globální odpovědnost každého z nás. Cílem akce je žít bez výrobků obsahujících palmový olej, což přináší zdravotní i ekologické výhody. Palmový olej je obsažen v mnoha potravinách, kosmetice a dalších produktech. Nadměrná konzumace palmového oleje má negativní vliv na zdraví, znečišťuje životní prostředí a přispívá k emisím skleníkových plynů. Masivní odlesňování pro výsadbu palmových plantáží ohrožuje živočišné druhy, včetně orangutanů. Nařízení EU umožňuje informovanou volbu spotřebitelů, kteří mohou preferovat produkty bez palmového oleje. Aplikace do mobilu pomáhá identifikovat výrobky obsahující palmový olej a nabízí alternativy.

Der Tag ohne Palmöl knüpft an die erfolgreiche Aktion "Tag, an dem wir den Unternehmen sagen, dass wir ihre Produkte mit Palmöl nicht wollen" an, die am 1. Februar 2016 stattfand. Dieser Tag erinnert vor allem daran, was bereits geschehen ist und was noch getan werden muss. Es ist eine Erinnerung an unsere globale Verantwortung. Es liegt an jedem von uns, das Geschehen auf der anderen Seite des Planeten aktiv zu beeinflussen. Wir bitten Sie daher, einen Tag, gerne auch zwei, drei, fünf oder auch jeden Tag ohne Palmöl zu leben, ohne Produkte, die es enthalten. Sie helfen sowohl Ihrer Gesundheit als auch der Natur und werden am Ende feststellen, dass Sie sogar Geld sparen, denn Sie brauchen eigentlich nicht so viele Produkte mit Palmöl.

Palmöl, das aus den Früchten der Ölpalme gewonnen wird und ursprünglich aus Afrika stammt, ist in etwa der Hälfte aller Lebensmittel enthalten: Margarine, Bratfette, Mayonnaise, Saucen, Pommes Frites, Chips, Kekse, Feingebäck, Eiscreme, Schokolade, gehärtete Pflanzenfette, Instant-Suppen und -Milch, Süßigkeiten, Eiscreme, Säuglingsnahrung, Kosmetik, Shampoos, Cremes, Rasierschaum und Seife, Tierfutter, industrielle Schmiermittel und Biokraftstoffe. 

Experten zufolge wirkt sich der übermäßige Konsum von raffiniertem Palmöl negativ auf unsere Gesundheit aus. Palmöl enthält viele ungesunde Fettsäuren und wenig gesunde. Der Verzehr fördert Immunerkrankungen sowie Herz- und Gefäßerkrankungen. Durch die Raffination entstehen krebserregende Substanzen und genetische Schäden. Die Umweltverschmutzung und Treibhausgase: 1 Hektar Regenwald kann im Vergleich zu 1 Hektar Palmölplantage 10-mal mehr Kohlenstoff speichern. Eine große Menge an Treibhausgasen entweicht aus Torfmooren, die in Palmölplantagen umgewandelt wurden. In den Böden der Torfmoore ist eine große Menge Kohlenstoff und Methan gespeichert, die bei Kontakt mit Luft freigesetzt werden. Weitere Treibhausgasemissionen entstehen durch das Abholzen von Wäldern und Torfmooren. Biokraftstoffe, die aus Palmöl von auf trockengelegten Torfmooren gewachsenen Früchten hergestellt werden, belasten die Atmosphäre viel stärker als konventionelle fossile Brennstoffe. Aufgrund der enormen Nachfrage wird immer mehr Palmöl benötigt, und somit auch größere Flächen für Plantagen. Since then, the Ramsar Convention Secretariat has been providing relevant information and materials to government agencies, non-governmental organizations, conservation organizations, and social groups celebrating World Wetlands Day to help them raise awareness about the value and benefits of wetlands and support their conservation and sustainable use. Wetlands and Sustainable Development Goals

Healthy wetlands are essential for achieving the following Sustainable Development Goals: Goal 6, which focuses on ensuring availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all, and its target 6.6, which aims to protect and restore water-related ecosystems; Goal 14, which relates to the conservation and sustainable use of oceans, seas, and marine resources for sustainable development, including its target 14.2, which strives for the sustainable management and protection of marine and coastal ecosystems; and Goal 15, which concerns life on land, and its target 15.1, which seeks to ensure the conservation, restoration, and sustainable use of terrestrial and inland freshwater ecosystems and their services.

In any case, the future of humanity depends on wetlands. Wetlands not only clean and replenish our water, but also provide food, such as fish and rice, which feed billions of people. They also act as a natural sponge against floods and droughts. Wetlands have great biological diversity and play an important role as carbon sinks. The World Pulses Day has a special significance for the goals of sustainable development 1 2 3 5 8 12 13 and 15. Pulses are rich in beneficial substances and overall very beneficial for our health. They contain a lot of proteins, but very little fat. Pulses are naturally gluten-free and contain a lot of iron, zinc, minerals, and B-group vitamins. The cultivation of pulses also has several advantages. The production of 1 kg of pulses consumes 1250 liters of water, which is ten times less than the amount of water needed for 1 kg of beef. Pulses can also be grown in less fertile soil and can withstand semi-arid areas. They increase biodiversity and provide shelter for other species of animals and insects.
