The largest beaver dam is located in Wood Buffalo National Park in Alberta, Canada, and is 850 meters long. Beavers are classified as mammals, rodents, and the European beaver is one of the most interesting animals in the world. They are monogamous and live in families, with parents and two to three litters of offspring, totaling five to seven young. Like humans, beavers also build homes, in their case, lodges or burrows. Über 20 Millionen Amerikaner beteiligten sich daran. Zu dieser Zeit gab es immer wieder Proteste gegen die Konsumgesellschaft, den Establishment oder den Vietnamkrieg. Die Aktion, bei der die Organisatoren unter anderem die Nutzung erneuerbarer Energien, das Recycling von Abfällen und die Beseitigung von Chemikalien, die die Ozonschicht zerstören, forderten, erfüllte ihren Zweck. Bereits im Dezember 1970 wurde die US-Umweltbehörde EPA gegründet und in den 70er Jahren wurden im Kongress mehrere Umweltgesetze und bedeutende gesetzgeberische Maßnahmen verabschiedet, wie das Luftreinhaltegesetz oder das Gesetz zum Schutz gefährdeter Arten. Im Jahr 1971 wurde dieser Feiertag erstmals von den Vereinten Nationen anerkannt und am 20. März 1971 begangen.
In den folgenden Jahren verbreitete sich der Earth Day auf der ganzen Welt. Im Jahr 1990 erreichte er anlässlich des 20. Jahrestages des US-Earth Day eine Massendimension, an der sich 200 Millionen Menschen in 140 Ländern, einschließlich der Tschechoslowakei, beteiligten. Zum ersten Mal beteiligte sich auch China an der Aktion. V Česku je použití a zacházení se zvířaty pro pokusné účely upraveno zákonem o ochraně zvířat proti týrání a dalšími předpisy.

In Tschechien werden jährlich rund 300.000 Tiere für Tests und Forschungszwecke verwendet, darunter vor allem Labormäuse, Ratten, Meerschweinchen, Kaninchen, Schweine, Hunde, Pferde und Primaten. Etwa 150.000 Tiere, die als Versuchstiere aufgeführt sind, sind jedoch in Wirklichkeit beringte Vögel. Das Leben der Labortiere ist von großem Leid geprägt und wir sollten uns für ihre Rechte einsetzen. Obwohl Tierversuche zweifellos zu Fortschritten in der Medizin und anderen Naturwissenschaften führen, wurden Millionen von Tieren auch für Tests von Chemikalien oder Kosmetika verwendet. Es ist kein Geheimnis, dass Tiere bei solchen Tests unglaublich leiden. Obwohl seit 2004 in der EU das Testen von Kosmetika an Tieren verboten ist, gibt es immer noch Tests für kosmetische Inhaltsstoffe, da die Europäische Chemikalienagentur ECHA Tests für die Registrierung einzelner chemischer Substanzen verlangt. Einige Organisationen haben sich daher zur Initiative "Für Tierversuchsfreie Tests" zusammengeschlossen, um eine Petition zu unterzeichnen, die darauf abzielt, 1 Million Unterschriften zu sammeln, um die Europäische Kommission dazu zu bringen, sich mit den Forderungen der Initiative zu befassen. Tierversuche sind in europäischem und tschechischem Recht definiert und geregelt. Die Verwendung und der Umgang mit Tieren für Versuchszwecke werden durch das Gesetz Nr. 246/1992 über den Schutz von Tieren vor Misshandlung und die entsprechenden Verordnungen, das Gesetz Nr. 418/2012 über den Schutz von Tieren bei der Tötung, das Gesetz Nr. 419/2012 über den Schutz von Versuchstieren und das Gesetz Nr. 166/1999 über die tierärztliche Versorgung und die Änderung einiger damit zusammenhängender Gesetze teilweise geregelt.

Nadměrný rybolov je však stále problémem, ačkoli se do ochrany a řízení tuňáka zapojuje více než 96 zemí. OSN vyzývá k účinnému provádění mezinárodního právního rámce a snižování nadměrného rybolovu. Přestože některé programy FAO přinášejí pozitivní výsledky, je třeba pokračovat v úsilí o udržitelný rybolov.

Dieser Schritt unterstreicht die Bedeutung des Schutzes von Thunfischbeständen, um sicherzustellen, dass wir Systeme haben, die den Zusammenbruch der Bestände verhindern. Viele Länder sind stark von Thunfischressourcen abhängig, um die Ernährungssicherheit, wirtschaftliche Entwicklung, Beschäftigung, Regierungseinnahmen, Lebensunterhalt, Kultur und Erholung zu gewährleisten. Jährlich werden über 7 Millionen metrische Tonnen Thunfisch und verwandter Arten gefangen. Diese wandernden Thunfischarten machen 20 Prozent des Werts des gesamten Fischfangs aus und mehr als 8 Prozent aller global gehandelten Meeresprodukte. Die Einstellung der Überfischung ist lebenswichtig. Die Ernährungs- und Landwirtschaftsorganisation der Vereinten Nationen stellt jedoch fest, dass die Marktnachfrage nach Thunfisch immer noch hoch ist und dass eine erhebliche Überkapazität der Thunfischfangflotten besteht. Bei der Bewältigung des Rückgangs der Thunfischbestände aufgrund von Überfischung in den Weltmeeren betont der Rechtsausschuss der Vereinten Nationen die entscheidende Bedeutung einer effektiven Umsetzung des internationalen Rechtsrahmens, wie er im Übereinkommen der Vereinten Nationen über das Seerecht, dem als UNCLOS bekannten Übereinkommen, zum Ausdruck kommt. Dies wurde durch den Verhaltenskodex für nachhaltige Fischerei, das Übereinkommen der Vereinten Nationen über Fischbestände, Empfehlungen der Bewertungskonferenz, jährliche Resolutionen der Generalversammlung zur nachhaltigen Fischerei sowie weitere Bemühungen der internationalen Gemeinschaft auf globaler, regionaler und nationaler Ebene gestärkt. Many countries heavily rely on tuna resources for food security, economic development, employment, government revenue, livelihoods, culture, and recreation.

Over 7 million metric tons of tuna and tuna-like species are caught annually. These migratory tuna species represent 20 percent of the value of all marine catches and over 8 percent of all globally traded seafood. Given this information, we must recognize the crucial role of tuna in sustainable development of food security, economic opportunities, and people's livelihoods worldwide. Stopping overfishing is vital. However, the UN Food and Agriculture Organization notes that the market demand for tuna remains high and that there is still significant overcapacity in tuna fishing fleets.

Addressing the decline of tuna populations due to overfishing in the world's oceans emphasizes the crucial importance of effective implementation of the international legal framework, as reflected in the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS), widely known as UNCLOS, strengthened by the Code of Conduct for Responsible Fisheries, the United Nations Fish Stocks Agreement, recommendations of its assessment conferences, annual resolutions of the General Assembly on sustainable fisheries, and other efforts by the international community at the global, regional, and national levels.

Currently, over 96 countries are involved in the protection and management of tuna, with an expenditure of nearly $10 billion. Some relevant FAO programs have started to yield positive results in reducing overfishing.

Medzinárodný deň slnka, oslavovaný 3. mája, upozorňuje na význam Slnka a podporuje využívanie solárnej energie. Po prvýkrát bol oslavovaný v roku 1978 v USA a od roku 1994 sa stal medzinárodnou udalosťou s účasťou 22 krajín. Slnko hrá kľúčovú úlohu v ekologickej rovnováhe a energetickej nezávislosti. Na tento deň sa konajú výstavy, dni otvorených dverí a vzdelávacie akcie, ktoré propagujú solárne technológie a informujú verejnosť o výhodách využívania slnečnej energie.

Mezinárodní den lesních školek, který se koná 3. května, letos připadá na téma klidu, odpočinku a spánku. České lesní školky si pro rok 2023 zvolily téma "LESsnění", aby ukázaly, jak v lesních školkách probíhá odpočinek a spánek jako základní potřeba dětí. Osvěta veřejnosti a členům Asociace lesních mateřských škol bude součástí kampaně, která se zaměří na vyvracení mýtů spojených se spánkem a odpočinkem v lesních školkách. Asociace lesních mateřských škol, která funguje již 10 let, má aktuálně 150 členů a jejím cílem je rozvíjení dobrých podmínek pro vzdělávání předškolních dětí v přírodě.

Für dieses Jahr wurde das Thema Ruhe, Erholung und Schlaf ausgewählt. Waldkindergärten haben das Thema "Walderholung" für das Jahr 2023 gewählt, um zu zeigen, wie Ruhe und Schlaf als grundlegende Bedürfnisse von Kindern in Waldkindergärten stattfinden. Der Internationale Tag ist oft ein Tag der offenen Tür in Waldkindergärten. Dieses Jahr ist es eine Gelegenheit, mögliche Vorurteile oder Bedenken im Zusammenhang mit dem Schlaf von Kindern im Kindergarten zu beleuchten. Ruhe und Schlaf sind grundlegende Bedürfnisse von Kindern und entscheidend für ihre gesunde Entwicklung. Wie wird der Komfort und die Ruhe gewährleistet? Es ist typisch, dass die Kinder in ihren eigenen Schlafsäcken, in Schlafnestern, Hängematten oder Kinderbetten schlafen. Es ist wichtig zu betonen, dass Kinder in angemessener Wärme und Trockenheit sind. Jedes Kind braucht Schlaf, und es liegt an den Erwachsenen, den Schlüssel zu finden, der dem Kind hilft, diese gesunde Gewohnheit zu entwickeln. Die Assoziation der Waldkindergärten besteht seit 10 Jahren und hat derzeit 150 Mitglieder. Das langfristige Ziel ist es, gute Bedingungen für die frühkindliche Bildung in der Natur das ganze Jahr über zu schaffen. Der erste Waldkindergarten wurde 1954 in Dänemark gegründet und hat sich seitdem in mehreren Ländern verbreitet.

Lesné škôlky majú pre rok 2023 zvolenú tému "LESsnění", aby ukázali, ako v lesných škôlkach prebieha odpočinok a spánok ako základná potreba detí. Osveta o spánku a odpočinku v lesných škôlkach je súčasťou kampane, ktorá sa zameriava na rodičov a členov Asociácie lesných materských škôl. V rámci kampane sa budú riešiť aj mýty a predsudky spojené so spánkom a odpočinkom v lesných škôlkach. Asociácia lesných materských škôl funguje už 10 rokov a má 150 členov. The Czech Society for Ornithology has been organizing the Birdsong Welcome since 1992. There are walks in over a hundred locations across the country, accompanied by demonstrations of bird ringing, birdhouse exhibitions, and other bird protection activities. The main date for the event is the first weekend in May, but some activities take place earlier or later. Some of the upcoming events include excursions to bird parks, bird watching trips, and a night nature walk. There will also be a special event on May 10th about the most common bird songs in spring, led by expert Ondřej Belfín. Česká společnost ornitologická každoročně pořádá akci Vítání ptačího zpěvu, která se koná na stovce míst po celé republice. Během této akce jsou připraveny vycházky do přírody, kde se můžete seznámit s probouzející se jarní přírodou a také s ochranou ptáků. Hlavním termínem akce je první květnový víkend, ale některé akce se konají i v jiných termínech. V rámci akce jsou také připraveny ukázky kroužkování výstavky ptačích budek. Mezinárodní týden kompostování, který pořádá Asociace CZ Biom, nabízí návštěvníkům zapojených kompostáren možnost si zdarma odnést pytel kompostu na své zahrádky. Cílem akce je upozornit na důležitou roli kompostáren při zpracování bioodpadů a jejich využití jako hnojiva na půdu. Kompost má mnoho pozitivních účinků na půdní vlastnosti, například zvyšuje množství organické hmoty v půdě, zlepšuje její strukturu a zpracovatelnost, upravuje pH půdy, poskytuje živiny rostlinám a snižuje riziko výskytu chorob a škůdců.

In der Woche vom 7. bis 13. Mai findet die traditionelle Internationale Kompostwoche der CZ Biom Association statt. Im Rahmen dieser Veranstaltung können Besucher von Kompostanlagen kostenlos einen Sack Kompost für ihre Gärten mitnehmen. Die Aktion soll auf die wichtige Rolle von Kompostanlagen bei der Verarbeitung von Bioabfällen und ihrer Wiederverwendung als Dünger aufmerksam machen. Teilnehmende Kompostanlagen stellen mehrere Tonnen Kompost zur Verfügung, die die Menschen selbst in Säcke füllen und mitnehmen können. Kompost hat eine Vielzahl positiver Auswirkungen auf die Bodeneigenschaften, wie die Erhöhung des organischen Materials im Boden, die Verbesserung der Bodenstruktur und die Bereitstellung von Nährstoffen für Pflanzen.

The traditional International Composting Week organized by the CZ Biom Association is taking place from May 7th to 13th. As part of the event, participating composting facilities are offering visitors the opportunity to take a bag of compost for their gardens free of charge. The aim of the event is to highlight the important role of composting facilities in processing organic waste and reusing it as fertilizer. Several composting facilities are participating in the event and will provide bags of compost for visitors to collect.

Compost has a number of positive effects on soil properties. It increases the amount of organic matter in the soil and reduces erosion. It also improves soil structure and workability, which is important for farmers. Additionally, compost application can adjust the pH of the soil and provide nutrients, replacing the need for synthetic fertilizers. Compost also reduces the risk of plant diseases and pests, sequesters carbon in the soil, protects water from nutrient runoff, and improves water retention in the soil.

V týždni od 7. do 13. mája sa koná tradičný Medzinárodný týždeň kompostovania. Asociácia CZ Biom už tretí rok po sebe pripravuje tematickú výzvu s názvom "NAKOPEJ SI PYTEL", v rámci ktorej si návštevníci zapojených kompostární môžu odniesť pytel kompostu na svoje záhrady zdarma. Cieľom akcie je poukázať na dôležitú úlohu kompostární pri spracovaní bioodpadov a ich opätovného využitia ako hnojiva pre pôdu. Zúčastnené kompostárne vyhradia niekoľko ton kompostu, ktorý si ľudia budú môcť sami nakopať do pytle a odviezť. Kompost má celý rad pozitívnych účinkov na pôdne vlastnosti, ako je zvyšovanie množstva organického materiálu v pôde, zlepšovanie jej štruktúry a zpracovateľnosti, upravovanie pH pôdy, zvyšovanie výnosovej stability plodín, poskytovanie živín, ochrana vody pred eutrofizáciou a zlepšovanie zadržiavania vody v pôde.

Světový den oslů je oslavou odolnosti a významu oslů po celém světě. Oslům vděčíme za jejich tvrdou práci a přínos k rozvoji civilizace. Oslavou tohoto dne chceme upozornit na jejich trápení a podpořit organizace, které se starají o jejich pohodu.

Der Welt-Esel-Tag ist eine Hommage an eines der widerstandsfähigsten und angesehensten Tiere aus der Pferdefamilie. Im Laufe der Geschichte dienten Esel auf der ganzen Welt als Reittiere und Lastenträger in einigen der anspruchsvollsten Gelände und unter widrigen klimatischen Bedingungen, und das mit Stolz und Ausdauer. Es ist nicht überraschend, dass der Erfolg dieser Tiere teilweise auf ihren sturen Charakter zurückzuführen ist, und der Welt-Esel-Tag ehrt sie zusammen mit ihren möglicherweise lobenswerteren Eigenschaften.

Zwei Unterarten des Esels, der Somali- und der Nubier-Esel, wurden gemeinsam gezüchtet, um das zu produzieren, was wir als modernen Esel betrachten. Verfügbare Beweise deuten darauf hin, dass der Esel seit 4000 v. Chr. höchstwahrscheinlich in Nubien als vielseitigeres und widerstandsfähigeres Packtier als das Rind gearbeitet hat, das zu dieser Zeit verwendet wurde. They have provided the necessary energy for creating wealth long before the advent of steam or electricity. World Donkey Day is a celebration of their stoic spirit and individual charm. These animals are willing to work tirelessly without expecting anything in return. The day was established by Raziq Ark, a scientist who noticed that donkeys were not being recognized for their efforts in improving people's lives worldwide. The study of light has led to promising alternative energy sources, medical advancements in diagnostic technologies and treatments, high-speed internet, and many other discoveries that have revolutionized society and shaped our understanding of the universe. These technologies, developed over centuries of fundamental research on the properties of light, starting with Ibn Al-Haytham's seminal work "Kitab al-Manazir" (Book of Optics) published in 1015 and continuing with Einstein's work in the early 20th century, have changed the way we think about time and light.

Medzinárodný deň svetla oslavuje úlohu svetla vo vede, kultúre a umení, vzdelávaní a udržateľnom rozvoji a v takých rozmanitých oblastiach ako medicína, komunikácia a energetika. Oslava umožňuje rôznym sektorom spoločnosti na celom svete zapojiť sa do aktivít, ktoré demonštrujú, ako ved a technológia, umenie a kultúra môžu pomôcť dosiahnuť ciele UNESCO pri budovaní základov mierovej spoločnosti. Štúdium svetla viedlo k sľubným alternatívnym zdrojom energie, záchranným lekárskym pokrokom v diagnostických technológiách a liečebných postupoch, internetu s rýchlosťou svetla a mnohým ďalším objavom, ktoré spôsobili revolúciu vo spoločnosti a formovali naše chápanie vesmíru. Den otevřených lesů je akce, kterou pořádá SVOL ve spolupráci se svými členy. Tato akce se koná jednou ročně a letos se uskuteční v sobotu 13. května 2023. Během dne majitelé obecních, soukromých a církevních lesů otevřou své lesy veřejnosti a nabídnou komentované procházky, ukázky lesnických prací, zalesňování a lesní pedagogiky. Na akci se můžete dozvědět zajímavosti o růstu stromů, výrobě kyslíku, rozdílu mezi lesníkem a myslivcem a mnoho dalšího. Das gemeinsame Motto der Veranstaltung ist zu zeigen, warum es wichtig ist, im Wald zu wirtschaften und wie wir als Eigentümer von nichtstaatlichen Wäldern uns darum kümmern. Das eigentliche Programm der Veranstaltung wird jedoch je nach den angemeldeten Mitgliedern unterschiedlich sein, erklärt Marie Růžková von SVOL. Dies hängt natürlich von der Größe des Eigentums und den Möglichkeiten ab. Everyone can go to the forest anytime, but there is only one day when owners of municipal, private, and church forests personally open their forests to the public. This year, the event called Open Forest Day, organized by SVOL and its members, will take place on Saturday, May 13, 2023. The owners of the forests have prepared guided walks in the forest, demonstrations of forestry work and reforestation, and examples of forest education. Come to the Open Forest Day event to learn all this and much more. You will have the opportunity to meet the forest owners, talk to them about how they take care of their forests and deal with climate change, and even try some forestry activities yourself. There will also be educational trails for children, demonstrations of heavy machinery and horses, meetings with foresters, and examples of their work. Tento rok sa termín koná v sobotu 13. mája 2023. Vlastníci lesov pripravujú komentované prechádzky v lese, ukážky lesníckych prác, zalesňovania a lesnej pedagogiky. Cieľom Dňa fascinácie rastlinami je oboznámiť verejnosť s aktuálnymi výskumami a ukázať, prečo sú rastliny dôležité a zaujímavé. Chcú tiež zasvätiť čo najviac ľudí do tajov botaniky, záhradníctva, poľnohospodárstva a lesníctva. V spolupráci s Prírodovedeckou fakultou UJEP pripravili v Botanickej záhrade Teplice Deň fascinácie rastlinami, kde sa deti hravou formou bližšie zoznámia s rastlinným svetom. Akcia sa koná aj vo Výskumnom ústave pícninárskej v Troubsku dňa 30. 5. 2023.

Světový den včel byl zvolen na počest Antona Janši, průkopníka moderního včelařství. Včelstva po celém světě trpí úbytkem, což má negativní dopad na zemědělskou produkci. The day serves as an opportunity for governments, organizations, companies, and individuals to support actions that protect and strengthen pollinators and their habitats, increase their abundance and diversity, and promote sustainable beekeeping. The dramatic decline in healthy bee colonies has a significant impact on agricultural production worldwide. Penny, a supermarket chain, is the patron of this year's Bee Day and has placed beehives around their warehouses to care for nearly 2 million bees. Without bees, the world would face a shortage of honey and problems with the pollination of various plants used in food production. The Open Hive Day event allows the public to visit beekeepers and learn more about the importance of bees. Penny also supports beekeepers and offers special products for beekeepers and customers who want to support beekeeping. V současnosti existuje v Evropské unii největší a nejkomplexnější soustava chráněných území na světě, která zahrnuje přírodní krásy jako Plitvická jezera, Dolomity, Camargue, Wild Taiga nebo Göreme. Tato soustava se nazývá Natura 2000 a jejím cílem je ochrana vzácných druhů živočichů, rostlin a přírodních stanovišť. Každý členský stát EU má povinnost vyhlásit a chránit tato území. V České republice je významným projektem Jedna příroda, který se zabývá péčí o tato území a je financován z programu LIFE EU. Projekt se zaměřuje na spolupráci s vlastníky a hospodáři, uzavírání smluv a dohod o ochraně území a hodnocení socioekonomických přínosů přírody. Směrnice o ptácích požaduje ochranu stanovišť ohrožených druhů ptáků prostřednictvím vymezení ptačích oblastí, které jsou součástí Natura 2000. V České republice existuje 41 ptačích oblastí, které zajišťují ochranu hnízdišť, biotopů a tahových zastávek ptáků. Díky péči o tyto oblasti se daří zvyšovat početnost populací ohrožených druhů ptáků. Nicméně, v ochraně ptáků je stále třeba čelit výzvám, zejména v souvislosti s intenzivním zemědělstvím, které způsobuje úbytek běžných druhů ptáků.

Derzeit erstreckt sich Natura 2000 über mehr als 18% der Fläche der Europäischen Union und ist somit das größte und komplexeste Netzwerk von Schutzgebieten weltweit. Das Ziel dieses Systems ist es, den Schutz der in europäischer Sicht wertvollsten, gefährdetsten, seltensten oder auf bestimmte Gebiete beschränkten Tier- und Pflanzenarten sowie natürlicher Lebensräume zu gewährleisten. Jeder Mitgliedstaat der Europäischen Union ist verpflichtet, das Natura-2000-Netzwerk auf seinem Gebiet zu erklären und seinen Schutz zu gewährleisten. Ein bedeutendes Projekt in der Tschechischen Republik, das sich mit der Pflege dieser Gebiete befasst und aus dem EU-LIFE-Programm finanziert wird, ist seit 2020 "Jedna příroda" (Eine Natur). Im Rahmen dieses Projekts wurde die Zusammenarbeit zwischen Naturschutz und Grundstückseigentümern und -bewirtschaftern erheblich ausgebaut. In den nächsten beiden Jahren wird das Projekt weiterhin Vereinbarungen mit Grundstückseigentümern abschließen, das Management gezielt bewerten, die sozioökonomischen Vorteile der Natur überwachen und Naturschutzmitarbeiter schulen. Die Vogelschutzrichtlinie der EU erfordert den Schutz von Lebensräumen gefährdeter Vogelarten durch die Ausweisung von Vogelschutzgebieten, die Teil des Natura-2000-Netzwerks sind. Derzeit gibt es in der EU über 5.500 solcher Gebiete, in der Tschechischen Republik 41. Diese Gebiete schützen Nistplätze oder andere wichtige Biotope von Vogelarten, die in der Vogelschutzrichtlinie festgelegt sind, sowie wichtige Rast- und Zugvogelversammlungen. Dank der Vogelschutzgebiete und der für ihre Pflege bereitgestellten finanziellen Mittel gelingt es, die Bestände von Arten, für die Vogelschutzgebiete eingerichtet werden, in Europa zu erhöhen. Ein anschauliches Beispiel dafür ist der Anstieg der Populationen von Kranichen, Seeadlern oder Schwarzstörchen in der Tschechischen Republik. Bei der Vogelkunde stehen derzeit weitere wichtige Herausforderungen im Zusammenhang mit den häufigen Arten im Vordergrund. Insbesondere in der Agrarlandschaft nimmt die Anzahl der Vogelarten aufgrund der zunehmenden Intensität der Landwirtschaft seit den 1980er Jahren ab, und dieser negative Trend konnte bisher nicht gestoppt werden. Es besteht sogar die Gefahr, dass einige zuvor häufige Vogelarten wie die Eule oder das Rebhuhn aus unserer Natur vollständig verschwinden.

Natura 2000 is the largest and most complex network of protected areas in the world, covering various regions in the European Union. Its goal is to protect the most valuable and endangered species, plants, and habitats in Europe. The Czech Republic is involved in the project "Jedna příroda," which aims to care for these areas and is funded by the EU's LIFE program. The project has successfully established cooperation between nature conservation and landowners, resulting in numerous agreements and contracts. The project will continue to focus on agreements with landowners, management, monitoring, and education in the final phase. The Birds Directive requires the protection of habitats for endangered bird species through the establishment of bird areas, which are part of Natura 2000. These areas contribute to increasing bird populations in Europe. V súčasnosti existuje v Európskej únii najväčšia a najkomplexnejšia sústava chránených území na svete, ktorá zahŕňa prírodné krásy ako Plitvické jazerá, Dolomity, Camargue, Wild Taiga alebo Göreme. Táto sústava sa nazýva Natura 2000 a jej cieľom je ochrana vzácnych druhov živočíchov, rastlín a biotopov. Každý členský štát EÚ má povinnosť vyhlásiť a chrániť tieto územia. Die Teeindustrie ist ein wichtiger Lebensunterhalt für Millionen von Familien in Entwicklungsländern und spielt eine bedeutende Rolle bei der Armutsbekämpfung und der Sicherung der Ernährung in diesen Ländern. Der Weltbiodiversitätstag, auch Tag der biologischen Vielfalt genannt, wurde von der UN-Generalversammlung ausgerufen, um den Tag zu feiern, an dem das Übereinkommen über die biologische Vielfalt am 22. Mai 1992 verabschiedet wurde. In der Tschechischen Republik trat das Übereinkommen am 3. März 1994 in Kraft. Die Tschechische Republik, wie auch andere Länder und die gesamte EU, entwickeln und implementieren Maßnahmen zur Verringerung der Bedrohung der Natur und zum Erhalt ihres Wertes im Einklang mit dem Übereinkommen. Die aktuelle Strategie der EU für die biologische Vielfalt bis 2030 umfasst beispielsweise Ziele zur Stärkung des Schutzes und zur Verbesserung des Zustands von Schutzgebieten, landwirtschaftlichen Landschaften, städtischen Umgebungen usw. Die Tschechische Republik beteiligt sich aktiv an der Umsetzung dieser Ziele.

Ein bedeutendes Projekt, das derzeit zur Erhaltung der Biodiversität beiträgt, ist das Projekt "Eine Natur". Cieľom Svetového dňa biodiverzity je informovať verejnosť a zvýšiť porozumenie týmto problémom.

Svetový deň biodiverzity, teda deň biologickej rozmanitosti, bol vyhlásený Valným zhromaždením OSN na počesť dňa, keď bola vytvorená Medzinárodná dohoda o biologickej rozmanitosti, teda 22. mája 1992. Česká republika, ako aj ďalšie štáty a celá EÚ, pripravujú a realizujú jednotlivé opatrenia na zníženie ohrozenia prírody a zachovanie jej hodnoty v súlade s touto dohodou. Die Geschichte der großen Schutzgebiete geht bereits auf das Jahr 1872 zurück, als der erste Nationalpark der Welt, der Yellowstone-Nationalpark in den USA, ausgewiesen wurde. Die Geschichte der europäischen Nationalparks begann zwar mit mehr als 30-jähriger Verzögerung in Schweden, aber bereits 1909 wurden neun Nationalparks ausgewiesen. Zur Erinnerung an dieses Jubiläum feiern wir am 24. Mai den EDP in ganz Europa. Das grundlegende Konzept der Feierlichkeiten besteht darin, geschützte Gebiete allen Menschen näher zu bringen, denn Naturschutz ist nicht nur Sache von Ökologen, Zoologen oder Botanikern. Naturschutz und geschützte Gebiete sind für jeden da und bieten uns viel mehr, als es auf den ersten Blick scheinen mag.

Große Schutzgebiete, zu denen nicht nur Nationalparks, sondern auch geschützte Landschaftsgebiete, Naturparks, von der UNESCO ausgewiesene Biosphärenreservate und das NATURA 2000-Netzwerk gehören, wurden nach und nach in allen europäischen Ländern ausgewiesen. In den hundert Jahren ihres Bestehens sind diese Gebiete neben ihrer Hauptaufgabe, dem Schutz gefährdeter Arten und Gemeinschaften, auch zu bedeutenden Orten für Bildung und Erholung der Bürger geworden.

Der Europäische Verband der Natur- und Nationalparks EUROPARC umfasst 370 Organisationen aus 38 europäischen Ländern, die sich um fast 400 Schutzgebiete kümmern. The idea of the European Day of Parks (EDP) was introduced by the EUROPARC Federation, an organization dedicated to international nature conservation through protected areas. The EDP aims to increase interest in these areas and has been celebrated since 1999 with various events across Europe. The history of large protected areas dates back to 1872 when the first national park in the world, Yellowstone, was established in the United States. European national parks were established with a delay of over 30 years, but in 1909, nine national parks were declared in Sweden. The EDP, celebrated on May 24th, aims to bring protected areas closer to everyone, emphasizing that nature conservation is not just for ecologists, zoologists, or botanists. Protected areas provide more than meets the eye, offering education and recreational opportunities for all. The EUROPARC Federation, which oversees nearly 400 protected areas in 38 European countries, organizes various programs and activities on this day, such as open days, excursions, and exhibitions. In the Czech Republic, there are currently four national parks and 25 protected landscape areas, all striving to offer opportunities for learning and relaxation in a sustainable manner.

S ideou Európskeho dňa parkov EDP prišla organizácia EUROPARC Federation, ktorá sa zaoberá medzinárodnou ochranou prírody, najmä formou chránených území väčšieho rozsahu. Cieľom EDP je zvýšiť záujem o tieto územia. EDP sa koná od roku 1999 a každým rokom pribúda viac podujatí vo všetkých krajinách Európy. 

Veľkoplošné chránené územia, vrátane národných parkov, chránených krajinných oblastí, prírodných parkov a biosférických rezervácií vyhlasovaných UNESCO a územných sústav NATURA 2000, boli postupne vyhlasované vo všetkých krajinách Európy. Okrem ochrany ohrozených druhov a spoločenstiev sa tieto územia stali aj významným miestom pre vzdelávanie a rekreáciu občanov.

Federácia prírodných a národných parkov Európy EUROPARC zastrešuje 370 organizácií z 38 krajín Európy, ktoré sa starajú o takmer 400 chránených území. Správy týchto území v celej Európe oslavujú tento deň ponukou programov pre verejnosť, ako sú dni otvorených dverí, exkurzie a podobne.

V Českej republike máme v súčasnosti 4 národné parky a 25 chránených krajinných oblastí. Cieľom ochrany prírody je poskytovať v týchto územiach priestor pre vzdelávanie a oddych, ak tieto aktivity prebiehajú udržateľným spôsobom.

Vydra říční je ohrožený druh, který je dnes na Červeném seznamu IUCN. Je to kunovitá šelma s protáhlým tělem a dlouhým ocasem, který slouží jako kormidlo při plavání. Vydra se živí rybami, žábami, raky a vodními ptáky. Obývá čisté řeky a potoky a staví si nory na březích. Rozmnožuje se v březnu a dubnu a samice rodí 1 až 3 mláďata, která jsou zpočátku zcela závislá na mateřském mléce. Vydra říční je silně ohrožený druh, a proto je důležité chránit jeho populace a zlepšit povědomí lidí o této šelmě.

Auf der ganzen Welt finden Veranstaltungen statt, die verschiedene Arten von Ottern vorstellen und ihren Schutz unterstützen. Alle Otterarten stehen heute auf der Roten Liste der IUCN und ihre Populationen nehmen ab. Sie leiden unter Umweltverschmutzung und Toxinen in der Nahrungskette, schlechter Wasserqualität, schlechter Verfügbarkeit von Nahrung, illegalem Fang und zunehmendem Verkehrsaufkommen. Es handelt sich um faszinierende Tiere, deren Anwesenheit auf die Sauberkeit der Umwelt hinweist. Wir sollten sie respektieren und schützen. Das größte Problem ist das weltweit geringe Bewusstsein der Menschen für Otter. Die Verbesserung dieser Situation zielt auch auf die Ausrufung des Internationalen Ottertages ab.

Around the world, there are many events aimed at introducing different otter species and supporting their conservation. All otter species are currently on the IUCN Red List and their populations are declining due to environmental pollution, toxins in the food chain, poor water quality, limited food availability, illegal hunting, and increasing traffic density. Otters are fascinating animals whose presence indicates the cleanliness of the environment. The biggest problem is the low awareness of otters worldwide. The International Otter Day aims to improve this situation. The Eurasian otter is a carnivorous mammal with a cylindrical body, a long muscular tail, short legs adapted for swimming, and webbed feet. It weighs between 4 and 12 kg and feeds mainly on fish, but also eats frogs, crayfish, and water birds. It lives in clean rivers, streams, and sometimes ponds, and marks its territory with piles of feces. Otters are solitary animals and can live up to 15-20 years. They reproduce in March and April, with females giving birth to 1-3 blind and dependent offspring after a gestation period of 61-74 days. Did you know that there are 14 otter species worldwide, but only one, the Eurasian otter, is found in the Czech Republic?

Po celém světě se koná řada akcí, které mají za cíl představit jednotlivé druhy vyder a podpořit jejich ochranu. Všechny druhy vyder jsou dnes na Červeném seznamu IUCN a jejich populace klesá. Trápí je znečištění prostředí a toxiny v potravním řetězci, špatná kvalita vody, horší dostupnost potravy, nelegální lov i zvyšující se hustota dopravy. Jde o úchvatné živočichy, jejichž přítomnost poukazuje na čistotu životního prostředí. Měli bychom si jich vážit a chránit je. Největším problémem je celosvětově nízké povědomí lidí o vydrách. Zlepšení tohoto stavu má za cíl právě i vyhlášení Mezinárodního dne vyder.

Zlepšenie tohto stavu má za cieľ práve aj vyhlásenie Medzinárodného dňa vyder.

Außerhalb der Trockenzeit wurde das Ritual auch während der zweiten Hälfte des Frühlings bis zur Johannisnacht durchgeführt. Brunnen wurden auch während der Kräuterweihe, dem Mädchenfest am Pfingstsonntag, geöffnet oder gereinigt. Über diesen Brauch informierte bereits im Jahr 1697 der Jesuitenmissionar Ferdinand Zelechovský, der in der Region Bechyně tätig war. Es ist nicht genau bekannt, wann dieser alte Brauch wiederbelebt wurde, bei dem Mädchen Brunnen in ihren eigenen und benachbarten Dörfern besuchten und im Frühling reinigten. Wasser war und ist jedoch ein sehr wichtiger Bestandteil für das Leben und die Ernte. Girls used to pray for clean water and a good harvest during this holiday, which was concluded with dancing and music. The ritual was performed during the second half of spring until St. John's Night. The tradition of visiting and cleaning the wells dates back to at least 1697. World Parrot Trust zorganizoval první Světový den papoušků v roce 2004. V roce 2007 byl oznámen trvalý zákaz dovozu volně žijících papoušků do Evropské unie. Existuje asi 350 druhů papoušků, z nichž je téměř polovina ohrožena. Papoušci jsou inteligentní a někteří z nich umí mluvit. Papoušci se ve volné přírodě páří na celý život a mají silný zobák. Největší papoušek kakapo nemůže létat a v Indii je zakázáno dávat papoušky do klece. K oslavě Světového dne papoušků se doporučuje navštívit papoušky v zoo, zjistit více o různých druzích papoušků, přispět organizaci na ochranu papoušků nebo sdílet fotky a příběhy papoušků na sociálních sítích.
