Mezinárodní den ptactva je připomínkou podepsání mezinárodní konvence a tradice slavení Dne ptáků v Česku sahá až do dob Rakousko-Uherské monarchie.

While many people know that International Bird Day is celebrated as a reminder of the signing of the international convention, few know that the tradition of celebrating Bird Day in Slovakia dates back to the Austro-Hungarian monarchy. The main goal of International Bird Day is to draw attention to the dangers threatening birds worldwide and to help protect them and their habitats. Protecting individual species is not enough, as the protection of their habitats is also necessary. Many neglected and overgrown areas of nature are disappearing from the Czech landscape, and few realize that this is causing the loss of habitats for many bird species. The biggest threats to birds, however, occur during their often very long migrations. According to BirdLife International, more than 1 million birds die each year in the Mediterranean, mainly in Cyprus, due to hunting practices. Ornithologists celebrate Bird Day in the field, as April is a time when bird migration is in full swing and many interesting bird species can be observed.

Medzinárodný deň vtáctva je oslavou podpísania medzinárodnej konvencie o vtáctve. Tradícia slávenia Dňa vtáctva v Slovenskom jazyku sa datuje až do doby Rakúsko-Uhorskej monarchie.

Světová zdravotnická organizace (WHO) oslaví 7. dubna 2023 své 75. výročí. Systémy produkující nezdravé potraviny a nápoje způsobují obezitu, rakovinu a srdeční onemocnění a generují emise skleníkových plynů. Současná podoba ekonomiky vede k nespravedlivému rozdělení příjmů, bohatství a moci, a mnoho lidí stále žije v chudobě a nestabilitě. Ekonomika blahobytu by měla mít za cíl blahobyt člověka, spravedlnost a ekologickou udržitelnost. Prolomení cyklů ničení planety a lidského zdraví vyžaduje legislativní opatření, podnikové reformy a podporu a motivaci jednotlivců k zdravým rozhodnutím.

We can imagine a world where clean air, water, and food are available to everyone. Where economies focus on health and well-being. Where cities are inhabited by people who have control over their own health and the health of the planet.

On April 7, 2023, the World Health Organization will celebrate its 75th anniversary on World Health Day. In 1948, countries around the world came together to establish WHO to promote health, keep the world safe, and serve the vulnerable so that everyone, everywhere can achieve the highest level of health and well-being. The 75th anniversary of WHO is an opportunity to reflect on the achievements in public health that have improved the quality of life over the past seven decades. It is also an opportunity to motivate action to address today's and tomorrow's health challenges. Join WHO on the journey to achieve health for all - HealthForAll WHO75.

WHO estimates that more than 13 million deaths worldwide are caused by preventable environmental causes each year. This includes the climate crisis, which is the biggest health threat humanity faces. The climate crisis is also a health crisis. Our political, social, and trade decisions are driving the climate and health crisis. More than 90% of people breathe unhealthy air caused by the burning of fossil fuels. The world is witnessing mosquitoes spreading diseases further and faster than ever before. Extreme weather events, land degradation, and water scarcity are displacing people and affecting their health. Pollution and plastics are found at the bottom of our deepest oceans, highest mountains, and have entered our food chain. Systems that produce highly processed unhealthy foods and drinks are driving an obesity epidemic, increasing the prevalence of cancer and heart disease, and generating one-third of global greenhouse gas emissions.

Although the COVID-19 pandemic has shown us the healing power of science, it has also highlighted the inequalities in our world. The pandemic has exposed weaknesses in all areas of society and emphasized the urgency of creating sustainable societies for well-being that are committed to achieving equitable health for current and future generations without exceeding ecological limits. The current form of the economy leads to an unfair distribution of income, wealth, and power, with too many people still living in poverty and instability. An economy of well-being aims for human well-being, justice, and ecological sustainability. These goals are reflected in long-term investments, welfare budgets, and legal and fiscal strategies. Breaking the cycles of planetary destruction and human health requires legislative measures, corporate reforms, and support and motivation for individuals to make healthy decisions.

Kde v mestách žijú ľudia, ktorí majú kontrolu nad svojim zdravím a zdravím planéty. Světová zdravotnická organizace (WHO) oslaví 7. apríla 2023 svoje 75. výročie. WHO bola založená v roku 1948 s cieľom podporovať zdravie, udržiavať svet v bezpečí a slúžiť zraniteľným, aby každý a kdekoľvek mohol dosiahnuť najvyššiu úroveň zdravia a pohody. Naše politické, sociálne a obchodné rozhodnutia poháňajú klimatickú a zdravotnú krízu. Viac ako 90 % ľudí dýcha nezdravý vzduch vznikajúci spaľovaním fosílnych palív. Extrémne poveternostné javy, degradácia pôdy a nedostatok vody ovplyvňujú zdravie ľudí.

The International Beaver Day aims to raise awareness about the suffering of beavers. Beavers are known for felling trees, but they also utilize every part of the tree they cut down. They eat buds, bark, and leaves, and then gnaw the branches and trunk into smaller pieces to build dams. These dams are useful in preventing floods and droughts, restoring northern wetlands, and helping to purify water. The largest beaver dam is located in Wood Buffalo National Park in Alberta, Canada, and is 850 meters long. Beavers are classified as mammals, rodents, and the European beaver is one of the most interesting animals in the world. They are monogamous and live in families, with parents and two to three litters of offspring, totaling five to seven young. Like humans, beavers also build homes, in their case, lodges or burrows. They can transform their environment to suit their needs and can even build canals for transportation. They have a developed signaling and communication system and can use water as a refrigerator by placing fresh bark on the bottom of the stream near their homes. Even if the water freezes, they still have access to food.

Bobri majú monogamný životný štýl a žijú v rodinách.

Every year on April 8th, Zoo Lover's Day encourages us to explore our local zoos. Zoos serve as breeding centers and educational facilities, providing a home for endangered species and teaching the public about a wide range of animals and their habitats. Vienna Zoo is the oldest existing zoo, opened to the public in 1765, while Liberec Zoo in the Czech Republic has grown from a small menagerie in 1904 to an internationally recognized breeding facility. In the United States alone, there are 350 zoos, with approximately 175 million people visiting them each year. To celebrate Zoo Lover's Day, you can visit your local zoo, contribute to zoo programs, share your zoo experiences with others, take a virtual zoo tour, or download a zoo coloring page for a fun activity at home.

- Sonnenblumenkerne
- Apfelscheiben
- Kohl
- Sellerie
- Kopfsalat
- Tomate
- Gurke

Although you can celebrate your friend anytime during the year, you can give them an extra carrot or treat for World Hamster Day. There are 24 different species of hamsters of various sizes in the world, with the largest species being the European hamster, which can reach a length of 34 centimeters. Hamsters are generally small and very friendly animals. The word "hamster" comes from the German word "hamstern," which means "to hoard," which is exactly what these adorable creatures do. They use their cheek pouches to store and transport food, which they then hide in their burrows. Sometimes, their cheeks become too big for their stomachs, and their pouches expand so much that they can't fit through the entrance to their burrow. Hamsters are crepuscular, meaning they are most active at dawn and dusk, and they are very solitary creatures, even though they are fertile parents. They are also very curious animals, so all hamster cages must be sturdy and escape-proof. The history of World Hamster Day dates back to at least 15 million years ago when hamsters were not yet domesticated until the 20th century. The exciting development began when zoologist Israel Aharoni went on an expedition to search for Syrian hamsters in a cornfield on April 12, 1930. Thirteen captured hamsters were then bred to create the first domesticated hamsters known as golden hamsters. Hamsters in the hobbyist breeding quickly spread to places like the USA and the UK, although they still exist in the wild in various European and Asian countries such as China, Belgium, and Greece. It is sad that the wild version of the Syrian hamster is now considered an endangered species. Currently, the most popular type of domestic hamster is the Syrian variant, and dwarf hamsters are also very common. Like other rodents, they are widely used in laboratories to study various diseases and health conditions such as lung cancer, gallstones, and pulmonary fibrosis. Now that you know everything about World Hamster Day, you may be wondering how to celebrate it. If you have a pet hamster, there are plenty of ways to show them some extra love. Create a delicious salad treat for your friend and even for yourself using some or all of the following ingredients: sunflower seeds, apple slices, cabbage, celery, lettuce, tomato, cucumber, and cookies. Make sure everything is chopped into small pieces so that your hamster can properly enjoy the salad. Treat them by adding new fun toys to their habitat. Hamsters love to play and get excited when they see new things in their environment, so go for a natural hamster toy and celebrate with them in style. Exercise wheels are popular in cages, while hamster balls allow these fun-loving creatures to safely roam around the house. In the wild, hamsters can travel up to 10 kilometers a day, so it's important for them to regularly get a healthy dose of exercise. If you want to spice things up, you can even build them a maze or an obstacle course for them to explore. Why not take a photo with your little hamster? If you have a camera, use a macro lens and start taking close-up shots to perfectly capture their cuteness. It's important not to use flash. Check if there are any events happening in your area. Hamster shows are popular gatherings where owners can exhibit their hamsters, and participants can meet

Microvolunteering is a concept that has become increasingly popular over the past 15 years. It involves individuals taking convenient actions to support good causes, often from the comfort of their own homes. The idea of microvolunteering is simple: individuals undertake small actions to positively impact the world around them. International Microvolunteering Day was established in 2014 to raise awareness about this form of short, easy, and active citizenship. People are encouraged to get involved and make a difference, whether it's writing letters to hospitalized patients or tagging photos online to assist visually impaired individuals. There are various local, national, and international opportunities for microvolunteering, allowing individuals to contribute without leaving their homes. Celebrating International Microvolunteering Day is a chance to find a project to support and help make the world a better place. Whether it's finding opportunities that align with your skills and time frame, recruiting microvolunteers for your organization, or exploring volunteer opportunities with the United Nations, there are many ways to get involved and make a difference.

Netopýři mají důležitou roli v ekosystému a přispívají k odstraňování hmyzu.

Bats have a bad reputation among people as scary blood-sucking creatures that spread diseases. However, according to scientists, they rarely transmit diseases and only a few species actually drink blood, with most of them preferring fruit. The bat population is decreasing, which is a problem because they contribute more to the ecosystem than people think. The International Bat Appreciation Day aims to show love for these flying mammals and educate people about their importance in today's world.

On International Bat Appreciation Day, we commemorate the important role that bats play in our daily lives. You may not think that bats have any impact on your life, but they actually help us by eating a lot of annoying insects. Their role in the circle of life definitely benefits us.

International Bat Appreciation Day encourages us to learn more about this species and the role it plays in nature. It is a good opportunity for you to learn more about bats, and you can find a lot of information on the internet and in animal textbooks. After all, there are several interesting facts about this species.

You probably know that bats are able to see in the dark and that they use their extreme hearing. But did you know that they are the only type of mammal that can fly in a true and sustainable way? Did you also know that bats are pollinators? Along with butterflies and bees, they are a crucial link in our food supply and also create rich fertilizer for landowners, farmers, and local communities.

There are many other interesting facts that you can learn about bats on International Bat Appreciation Day. This includes the fact that there are more than 1,200 known species of bats, with approximately 70% of them being insectivores. Bats also come in a range of different sizes, with the golden-crowned flying fox being one of the largest bats, with a wingspan of 21cm and weighing up to 14kg. Bats are also constantly grooming themselves, making them very clean animals, which many people do not realize.

The International Bat Appreciation Day was established by the organization Bat Conservation International to focus on the protection of all different bat species. Bats protect ecosystems and help ensure a healthier future for our planet. Bat Conservation International was founded in 1982 by a group of scientists interested in bats on our planet. After many studies, they found that bats are important for maintaining the balance of nature and are important for many industries.

Scientists like Dr. Merlin Tuttle, a renowned bat expert, founded the organization and made important progress by teaching more sustainable use of natural resources that benefit both bats and humans. Without bats, plants would not be able to provide food for other species of wildlife and surrounding ecosystems. Bats are one of the least studied animals, even though many of these bats are considered critically endangered, endangered, or vulnerable. Deforestation, improper guano mining, and thoughtless tourism have caused significant declines in bat populations worldwide. International Bat Appreciation Day aims to change the perception of these misunderstood creatures and encourage people to help protect them.

To celebrate International Bat Appreciation Day, you can support a local bat conservation organization through donations or volunteering to protect these adorable creatures. Share your love for bats with your friends and family by sharing facts about different bat species in the wild. Take the time to educate people about the importance of bats in the global ecosystem. If you want to become a biologist studying bats, organizations like Bat Conservation International offer career opportunities. You can also expand your knowledge by

The idea of a mass ecological happening came from Senator Gaylord Nelson, who wanted to bring ecology to the attention of politicians. In 1970, Nelson joined forces with activist Daniel Hayes to coordinate an event involving thousands of high schools and universities across the US, with over 20 million Americans participating. This event led to the creation of the US Environmental Protection Agency and the passing of several environmental laws. The celebration of Earth Day spread worldwide, reaching its peak in 1990 when over 200 million people in 140 countries, including Czechoslovakia and China, participated. This global action helped prepare public opinion for the first Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro in 1992. This year, the company RAJA is the patron of Earth Day and promotes environmentally responsible business practices. They support their partners in adopting the same approach and take steps to reduce their impact on the environment. RAJA's suppliers have committed to sustainable development principles, and the company focuses on eco-friendly packaging innovations. They also prioritize digital communication to reduce their ecological footprint. RAJA offers a wide range of environmentally responsible products and has a strong commitment to recycling and waste reduction. The company is the European leader in the packaging market and provides customers with a wide selection of packaging solutions and excellent customer service. The EKOkalendář, created by the organization Ukliďme Česko, provides information about approximately 180 environmental holidays and events, along with 365 eco-tips for each day.

Společnost podporuje udržitelný rozvoj a ekologicky odpovědné dodavatele.

In the Czech Republic, around 300,000 animals are used for testing and research purposes each year, including laboratory mice, rats, guinea pigs, rabbits, pigs, dogs, horses, and primates. However, this number does not include approximately 150,000 animals that are considered experimental but are actually ringed birds in nature. The use of animals in experiments is a great suffering, and we should stand up for their rights. Despite the ban on testing cosmetic products on animals in the EU since 2004, testing of cosmetic ingredients still occurs due to the requirements of the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) for the registration of chemicals. Therefore, some organizations have formed the initiative "Za pokusy bez zvířat" (For experiments without animals) to gather 1 million signatures for the European Commission to address their demands. These demands include protecting and strengthening the ban on testing cosmetic products on animals, changing the EU regulation on chemicals to ensure the protection of human health and the environment without additional animal testing requirements, and modernizing science in the EU by gradually ending all animal testing before the end of the current electoral term. The use and treatment of animals for experimental purposes are regulated by Czech and European laws.

There is a special creature that comes from Central and South America and can even be found in Southeast Asia. It looks a bit like a pig but also a bit like an elephant with a long trunk. We are talking about the tapir. This beautiful animal is currently on the endangered list because it has been over-hunted for its meat and skin. World Tapir Day raises awareness about these endangered animals and helps protect them for future generations.

The history of World Tapir Day dates back to the intention of protecting all members of this endangered species from extinction so that they can still exist for our children. The areas they inhabit are either forests or jungles, which makes them particularly vulnerable to deforestation. The danger of their extinction goes beyond just losing another unique species, as the loss of tapirs could actually threaten the remaining forests. They also serve to spread seeds through the jungle as part of their natural habits and are one of the oldest species found in these areas.

Many people are unaware of tapirs as a species, which means we could lose them without ever knowing they exist. These animals are so unknown that zoo visitors often mistake them for members of another species. This is even a problem in the areas where they live, which is why World Tapir Day was declared to help raise global awareness of this species.

Celebrating World Tapir Day can be as simple as picking up a book or searching for information online about the species and learning about the role they play in their natural environment. If you feel like taking an extra step in celebrating World Tapir Day, you can go outside and help raise awareness by organizing events at your local school or community.

You can also visit your local zoo and find out if they have an exhibit of tapirs, and if they do, you can help raise awareness of their presence and encourage people to visit the zoo and learn more about them. You can also donate money to organizations working to protect the jungles where tapirs call home.

Svetový deň tapírov je založený s cieľom ochrániť všetky jedince tohto ohrozeného druhu pred vyhynutím. Tapíri obývajú lesy a džungle, čo ich robí zraniteľnými voči odlesňovaniu. Ich vyhynutie by mohlo ohroziť celé lesy.

Marine mammals live in a very different environment from those on land, but that doesn't make them any less valuable. Dolphins, seals, whales, sea otters, and other species face a challenging underwater environment that is not as hospitable as it once was. The Marine Mammal Rescue Day aims to raise awareness about the plight of these beautiful and unique creatures, who are an important part of underwater ecosystems. Join the Marine Mammal Rescue Day and show your support for this amazing marine life.

Marine mammals have a history that goes back further than human history can tell. Originally hunted by coastal indigenous people for food, fur, and oil, they have come a long way. Now, many of them are fighting for survival due to the impact that humans have on their lives. Whales and dolphins also need help from diseases and injuries during this season, just like throughout the year. Polluted waters, marine debris, and illegal fishing gear can contribute to the damage and killing of all types of aquatic life.

Being good stewards of the planet should include its largest part, the ocean, and its inhabitants. However, human actions and inaction have polluted and poisoned the ocean. Climate change has warmed the oceans and changed the patterns of fish swimming. The Marine Mammal Rescue Day was established to draw attention to the fact that young marine mammals, in particular, are often not strong enough to swim far and deep enough to catch the fish they need.

In 2017, Senator Toni Atkins from California proposed a bill to create Marine Mammal Rescue Day. And although the day originated in the United States, oceans are shared by people from nations all over the world. It is therefore important to spread information about this day to raise awareness and show support for marine mammals.

How to celebrate Marine Mammal Rescue Day:

Contribute to marine mammals. Various charitable and nonprofit organizations work hard to support and protect marine life. However, they need financial assistance from individuals, companies, and others. Marine Mammal Rescue Day would be an ideal time to make a donation to a group or even a local zoo that helps these creatures.

Znečistená voda, morské odpadky a nelegálne rybárske zariadenia môžu prispieť k poškodeniu a usmrteniu všetkých druhov vodného života. Byť dobrými správcami planéty by malo zahŕňať jej najväčšiu časť - oceán a jeho obyvateľov. Ľudské činy a nečinnosť však oceán znečistili a otrávili. Celková zmena klímy oteplila oceány a zmenila vzorce migrácie rýb. A hoci deň má svoj p

Nearly 40 million workers in Spain have to raise their voices above normal conversation level for at least half of their working day in order to be heard. It is estimated that one third of European workers, more than 60 million people, are exposed to high levels of noise for more than one third of their working day. Noise-induced hearing loss has been recognized as the most common and irreversible occupational disease. Noise can also contribute to accidents, work-related stress, and other health problems. The causes of hearing damage include genetic factors, acquired factors such as frequent colds or viral infections, injuries, and exposure to noise and vibrations in the workplace or during leisure activities. Early signs of hearing problems include difficulty understanding words, difficulty hearing certain sounds, and sensitivity to background noise. The health consequences of noise exposure include sleep disorders, cardiovascular effects, decreased work performance, and impaired learning and concentration abilities. To protect your hearing, it is recommended to regulate the volume of electronic devices, avoid frequent visits to noisy places, choose appliances with lower noise levels, and limit the use of headphones. According to the World Health Organization, it is recommended to listen to portable music players for a maximum of one hour per day at 60% of the maximum volume.
