The main goal of the campaign is to inform the public about the benefits of buying organic food and supporting organic farming in the Czech Republic, as well as to show where they can buy organic food. Throughout the month of September, a series of regional events will take place to promote organic food and farming, including farmers markets, open farm days, and tours of organic farms. The campaign also includes a competition for the best Czech organic food, organized by PROBIO, the Association of Organic Farmers. The calendar of events for the month of organic food can be found at https://www.mesicbiopotravin.cz/kalendar-akci.

CZBIO00x a údaj o pôvode jej zložiek.

Primates, also known as primates, are a group of placental mammals that include more than 500 living species. They are divided into two main suborders: prosimians and anthropoids. The oldest scientific texts about primates date back to ancient times, but it was the Swedish scientist Carl Linnaeus who described them as a separate order. Primates are characterized by their advanced vision, reduced sense of smell, and the development of the brain. They have the largest brain size among all terrestrial mammals. Primates have a unique dental formula and their limbs are highly mobile, with opposable thumbs and flat nails. They are found on all continents except Antarctica, with lemurs and tarsiers being endemic to Madagascar. Primates exhibit a wide range of social structures, from solitary individuals to complex hierarchies. They have relatively low reproductive rates and exhibit advanced cognitive abilities, such as tool use and social learning. Primates have played an important role in human culture and religion. However, the growing human population has had a negative impact on primate species, with deforestation and hunting leading to the endangerment of 60% of primate species as of 2017.

The impact of the fashion industry on the environment is still a major problem characterized by excessive waste and resource consumption. Textile waste is often referred to as the new plastic, and the fashion industry is the second largest polluter after oil. The Secondhand September challenge aims to reverse this trend by encouraging people to recycle and make conscious choices. When we shop secondhand, we reduce the need for resources to produce new goods and extend the lifespan of clothing. We can try a small fashion detox and focus on our existing wardrobe, discovering often overlooked pieces. According to stylists, it is also more important to own a few basic and timeless pieces that are of good quality, can be combined in various ways, and will last longer than constantly buying new trendy items that you won't wear in a few months. The next step is to explore your favorite secondhand store, whether it's a brick-and-mortar shop or online, and embark on an adventurous search for well-preserved pieces that will suit you. Secondhand items of very good quality can be purchased today in a number of online shops for both adults and children. Another option is vintage stores specializing in stylish clothing, usually for women, from quality brands. Finally, you can participate in various swap events where you can send your discarded clothing that can no longer be revived and exchange it for something else that will bring you joy. The Second Hand September campaign can be an inspiration for an overall approach to acquiring new clothing that you can follow throughout the year, but because we know it can be quite difficult, try it for at least the few weeks remaining until the end of September and maybe you will like it.

Módní průmysl má velký dopad na životní prostředí, především kvůli nadměrné spotřebě a plýtvání zdroji. Výzva Secondhand September vyzývá lidi k recyklaci a uvědomělému výběru oblečení. Nakupováním z druhé ruky snižujeme potřebu nového zboží a prodlužujeme životnost oblečení.

Výzva Secondhand September vyzýva ľudí k recyklácii a uvážlivému výberu oblečenia. Nakupovaním z druhej ruky znižujeme potrebu nového tovaru a predlžujeme životnosť oblečenia.

Due to their scavenging nature, many people misunderstand the beautiful and important birds known as vultures, many species of which are endangered or threatened. International Vulture Awareness Day, which aims to raise awareness about all vulture species, began in 2009 through a collaboration between the Birds of Prey program in South Africa and the Hawk Conservatory Trust in the United Kingdom. Zoos and wildlife organizations around the world organize events where the public can learn more about vultures and sometimes even get close to them. The first Saturday in September is designated as a day to consider the ecological significance of this predator, which is usually misunderstood and often vilified. As some species are seriously threatened with extinction, International Vulture Awareness Day aims to educate and change public perceptions about the critical role these birds play in the environment. There are various ways to celebrate International Vulture Awareness Day, such as attending vulture events at local zoos or nature parks, watching documentaries about vultures, organizing a vulture-themed party, donating to vulture conservation organizations, and learning about the benefits vultures provide to the environment.

On September 5th, we commemorate the death of Mother Teresa, a significant humanitarian worker who received numerous awards for her charitable work and was even declared blessed. Charity takes many forms and always aims to help others, whether it is through monetary or material donations or through volunteer work. On the website of the project "Kam s ním" (Where to Take It), you can find a map with charity organizations and shops where you can donate usable items such as clothing, food, books, and household items. International Charity Day is meant to make people reflect on how they can help those in need. Any kind of help to others can have an invaluable impact.

Approximately 50 species of shorebirds are declining worldwide and their crucial habitats are disappearing faster than ever. There is an urgent need to raise awareness about the situation of these endangered birds and the need for their protection and research. Healthy shorebird populations depend on healthy habitats, but habitat destruction, killing of migratory shorebirds, global climate issues, public ignorance, and many other factors are causing declining trends in most shorebird populations. There is a pressing need for global action that will help connect people and shorebirds. The World Shorebirds Day was created with the goals of raising awareness about the need to protect shorebirds and their habitats throughout their life cycle, increasing public awareness about the need for ongoing research, monitoring, and protection of shorebirds, and connecting people with shorebirds through wetlands around the world. In Brno Zoo, we will celebrate World Shorebirds Day on the first Wednesday of September, where you can have the opportunity to observe shorebirds in their natural habitat.

The aim of this international day is to increase awareness of the importance of clean air for health, productivity, the economy, and the environment. It also aims to show the close connection between air quality and other environmental and development challenges, such as climate change. The day supports solutions that improve air quality through the sharing of knowledge, best practices, innovations, and successful examples. It brings together various stakeholders for effective air quality management at national, regional, and international levels.

The company DPD, part of the largest parcel delivery network in Europe, Geopost, has become the patron of this year's International Day of Clean Air for blue skies. DPD has been recognized for its long-term and intensive work on environmental improvement, particularly through carbon-neutral transport. By 2025, all DPD vehicles in Prague and Ostrava will be low-emission, supplemented by cycling and walking couriers. DPD is also the first global carrier with scientifically confirmed emission reduction targets from the leading independent scientific platform SBTi.

DPD is pleased to be the patron of this day as improving air quality is one of its main priorities. The company has been working on making its transport as environmentally friendly as possible, not just in terms of media coverage. DPD also aims to educate the public and is part of its communication strategy to raise awareness about greenwashing and help people recognize it. DPD is open to collaboration with other companies and municipalities.

The project of measuring air quality is directly related to improving air quality. For over 2 years, 90 DPD delivery vans with special monitoring devices have been driving through Prague every day. Every Prague resident can check the air quality on different streets on a dedicated website. The devices are also installed on several dozen buildings. The project has been recognized in a sustainability ranking.

In addition to its long-term collaboration with the volunteer action "Clean Czechia," where DPD is the main transportation partner, DPD has also become the patron of the International Day of Clean Air as part of their new project, EKOkalendar.cz. Their air monitoring web application is a great example of how even large companies can actively contribute to environmental protection and corporate social responsibility.

Apart from the International Day of Clean Air, the EKOkalendar by the organization "Clean Czechia" includes more than 230 other environmental days and holidays, along with detailed information about them. The calendar also provides 365 eco-tips for each day. The printed EKOkalendar for 2024 can be purchased on the "Clean Czechia" FanShop.

Mladí lidé nevidí v pěstování kakaa budoucnost a odcházejí do měst.

Cocoa is one of the most important commodities on the global market, but small-scale cocoa farmers struggle to make a living. Child labor is prevalent in cocoa-producing regions, particularly in West Africa. By purchasing chocolate and other cocoa products with the FAIRTRADE label, consumers can significantly improve the living and working conditions of cocoa farmers in developing countries and support environmental protection. Cocoa cultivation is the main source of income for over 55 million farmers in the Global South, providing livelihoods for over 14 million people. However, these farmers face numerous challenges, including low incomes, child labor, aging cocoa trees, declining production, youth migration to urban slums, and the increasing influence of multinational corporations. Fairtrade chocolate is available in the Czech Republic, with a growing demand for Fairtrade cocoa. Most cocoa farmers have never tasted chocolate, but Fairtrade-certified farmers in Ghana own 44 chocolate factories, making Divine Chocolate one of the largest and most well-known British chocolate producers. A quarter of Fairtrade cocoa farmers are women.

Zakúpením čokolády so známkou FAIRTRADE prispievať k zlepšeniu životných a pracovných podmienok pestovateľov kakaa a ich rodín v krajinách globálneho Juhu a podporovať ochranu životného prostredia.

The Coalition for Easy Donation, with the financial support of the Via Foundation on the occasion of International Will Day, annually announces the Month of Charitable Wills. From September 13 to October 13, 2023, donors who remember the charitable organization close to their hearts in their last will and testament will have their notary fees reimbursed. The goal is to raise awareness that through charitable wills, good deeds can be done both during and after life. Money, real estate, securities, and any small gift counts.

Surveys repeatedly show that Czechs are a generous nation. For example, according to the latest World Giving Index for 2021, philanthropy in the Czech Republic ranked a very respectable 13th out of 119 countries surveyed. In 2021, we were even the fastest-growing annual donors. However, Czech giving is not only growing in one-time aid during crises, such as the tornado in 2021 or last year's phenomenal solidarity with Ukraine. Our latest survey shows that people in the Czech Republic are gradually becoming more open to less common ways of supporting charity, such as wills, says Jan Gregor from the Coalition for Easy Donation.

Lucie Hošková, Head of Public Relations at the Czech Society for Ornithology, adds that the Czech Society for Ornithology (CSO) already has experience with bequests. We gratefully remember Mrs. Eugenia Venzarová, a CSO member and a great bird lover. Mrs. Venzarová was a very cultured and well-traveled woman, but her greatest love was birds. Therefore, she bequeathed half of her savings to the CSO in her will. This generous act provided the CSO with an important financial reserve, which proved crucial during the COVID pandemic and the related economic crisis. Mrs. Venzarová was not the only one who remembered birds in her will through the CSO. We deeply appreciate other CSO supporters who we know also think of bird conservation in their wills, and we are very pleased that they see a deep meaning in the work of the CSO that they want to help fulfill with their legacy.

The ozone layer helps to reduce the amount of harmful UV radiation reaching the Earth's surface, which can cause damage to the skin and eyes. The depletion of ozone in higher altitudes is directly related to the threat to the health of both humans and animals. The World Meteorological Organization (WMO) and its global observation network monitor the state of the ozone layer and the Antarctic ozone hole, which appears annually due to very low temperatures in the stratosphere and the presence of chemicals that contribute to ozone depletion. The Solar and Ozone Observatory in Hradec Králové is responsible for monitoring ozone in the Czech Republic. More information about the ozone hole can be found at httpscswikipediaorgwikiOzonovC3A1_dC3ADra.

Mantas, also known as devil rays, are large flat-bodied fish with triangular pectoral fins. There are two species of mantas: the reef manta and the oceanic manta. They can be distinguished by differences in their skin patterns and behavior. Mantas are found in tropical and subtropical oceans around the world. Reef mantas primarily inhabit certain reef habitats in shallow or coastal areas, while oceanic mantas are more transient visitors that travel across open oceans. Mantas never stop moving, as they need to keep water flowing over their gills to breathe. Their daily and seasonal movements are influenced by tides and ocean currents that carry the plankton they depend on. Despite their enormous size, mantas feed on microscopic animals called zooplankton. They are closely related to sharks and rays, with a skeleton made of cartilage rather than bone. Each manta has a unique pattern of spots on its belly that can be used for identification, similar to how we are identified by our fingerprints. Mantas are truly colossal, with some individuals reaching seven meters in wingspan and weighing up to two tons. They give birth to a single offspring after a gestation period of 12 to 15 months. When it comes to fish, mantas have one of the largest brains, which likely supports their curiosity and complex social interactions. Mantas are completely harmless and therefore popular among divers and snorkelers.

Oktober gefeiert.

The red panda, also known as the lesser panda, is a small arboreal mammal and the only representative of the Ailuridae family. It is slightly larger than a domestic cat, has reddish-brown fur, and a long tail that helps it maintain balance in trees. There are two recognized subspecies of red panda: the Chinese red panda and the Himalayan red panda, which have different population histories. Red pandas live in mountainous forests in southern China, Nepal, Bhutan, India, and Myanmar, and primarily feed on bamboo. They are solitary animals and are active mainly at dawn and dusk. The female gives birth to about 1-2 cubs after a gestation period of 3-4 months and takes care of them for about a year. The red panda is classified as an endangered species due to habitat loss and fragmentation, as well as occasional hunting for fur. They are popularly kept in zoos for their appearance and lower maintenance compared to giant pandas. In Europe, they are bred in approximately 170 zoos, including several zoos in the Czech Republic.

The European Mobility Week (EMW) is an annual campaign that takes place from 16th to 22nd September, aimed at promoting sustainable transportation. In the Czech Republic, the campaign has been organized since 2002, with the majority of participating cities and municipalities being members of the National Network for Sustainable Mobility. Municipalities can choose to participate in the full week-long campaign or organize a one-day event. Participation requires the approval of the Charter, which sets the rules and framework for the campaign. The Ministry of the Environment of the Czech Republic coordinates the national implementation of the campaign. In addition to EMW, various organizations in the Czech Republic organize events to promote sustainable and active mobility, such as "Walking to School," "Cycle to Work," "10,000 Steps Challenge," and "Experience the City Differently." In 2022, nearly 3,000 municipalities from 51 countries participated in the campaign, including 26 municipalities in the Czech Republic.

It all started with an email. In mid-2011, Lisa Jane Campbell from Chishakwe Ranch in Zimbabwe was planning World Rhino Day. She found Rhishj's blog while searching for ideas and potential collaborators online. Lisa Jane sent Rhishj an email, and they both realized they shared the goal of making World Rhino Day a day of celebration for all five rhino species. In the following months, they worked together to make World Rhino Day 2011 an international success both online and offline. Since then, World Rhino Day has become a global phenomenon, bringing together NGOs, zoos, related organizations, businesses, and individuals from almost all corners of the world.

Rhinoceroses are one of the living families of the order Perissodactyla. Currently, we know 56 living species in four genera. All rhino species are endangered.

Rhinos are illegally hunted for their horns in many countries. Crushed horn, or rhino horn powder, is used in some traditional medicines and aphrodisiacs, such as in traditional Chinese medicine. However, China has officially committed to nature conservation according to CITES. In other countries, rhino horns are carved into handles for traditional knives and daggers. While the necessity of hunting rhinos is universally rejected as outdated and barbaric, popular practices still pose a threat to them.

The European Parliament, the Council of the European Union, and the European Commission have declared September 23 as the European Day of Organic Farming to raise awareness about organic production in the European Union. The Commission also annually awards prizes for organic approaches as recognition of excellence in all stages of the organic food chain. The awards ceremony will take place on September 25, 2023. The European Commission will also support the development of organic tourism networks through bioregions, where farmers, citizens, tourism operators, associations, and public authorities will collaborate on sustainable management of local resources based on ecological principles and practices. The President of IFOAM Organics Europe, Jan Plagge, stated that the European Day of Organic Farming will be an ideal opportunity to assess Europe's progress in achieving the goal of 25% organically managed land by 2030, shaping consumer demand trends, raising awareness about organic farming throughout the supply chain, and implementing activities of the European Action Plan for Organic Farming.

Organic farming brings several benefits for climate and biodiversity, as highlighted in a document on the benefits of organic farming published by the IFOAM OE organization. Changing the way food is produced can have a significant impact on mitigating climate change, helping farmers adapt, and contributing to biodiversity protection. Organic farming offers a systemic approach to increasing carbon sequestration in soil while maintaining healthy soil and protecting biodiversity. Organic farming consumes less energy and reduces greenhouse gas emissions.

By relying on closed nutrient cycles and minimizing nitrogen losses, organic farming can reduce global greenhouse gas emissions in agriculture by approximately 20%. Abandoning the use of synthetic fertilizers reduces nitrous oxide emissions from soil by 40% per hectare in organic production systems. Animals in organic farming have access to pasture and open spaces, and 60% of their feed must come from the farm or the same region. Thanks to the reduced number of animals and the pasture-based organic farming system, emissions are reduced, and carbon stocks in the soil improve. Organic farming often utilizes better manure management, such as composting, which can reduce nitrous oxide emissions by 50% and methane emissions by 70%. Organic farming has higher energy efficiency and lower energy consumption per hectare, consuming approximately 15% less energy per unit of production compared to conventional farming.

Organic farming sequesters more carbon. Many common practices of organic farming, such as crop rotation including legumes or limited soil tillage, help improve soil quality and fertility and significantly contribute to increased carbon sequestration of an additional 450 kg C/ha per year compared to conventionally managed soil.

On the occasion of World Gorilla Day, we would like to invite you to learn more about this critically endangered species and how they desperately need your help. Gorillas are the largest living primates and primarily herbivorous. They inhabit the forests of central Africa and are divided into two species and four subspecies. Gorillas share 98 to 99% of their DNA with humans and are the closest relatives of humans after chimpanzees. Gorillas inhabit tropical and subtropical forests, covering a large range of altitudes. Both species of gorillas are endangered due to poaching, habitat destruction, and wildlife trade. The Ebola virus has also had a devastating impact on gorilla populations. Several projects and organizations, such as the Great Apes Survival Project and the Agreement on the Conservation of Gorillas and Their Habitats, are working towards the conservation of gorillas.

Try to become a vegetarian for a day and consider the reasons for choosing this lifestyle: health, environment, and financial savings. Many people believe that there is no reason for humanity to continue eating animals, and there are valid arguments to support this view. Hug and Vegetarian Day helps people learn what it's like to live a vegetarian lifestyle. The environment and personal health can benefit greatly from eliminating meat and animal products from the diet. In today's meat industry, there is often great cruelty, and this suffering could be easily alleviated if more people committed to avoiding meat consumption. The history of Hug and Vegetarian Day is associated with PETA, an organization founded in 1949 by Ingrid Newkirk. Being a vegetarian is not always easy, as dining options in restaurants are often limited, and there can be social hostility towards those who choose not to consume animals. However, there are now many vegetarian food alternatives on the market, making it relatively easy to find alternatives to meat products. So today is the day to embrace these brave souls who are working to save our animal friends. It is time to recognize and thank them for the animal lives they are saving and for the way their diet helps protect the environment of the planet. To celebrate Hug and Vegetarian Day, embrace a vegetarian. If you have a friend or family member who is a vegetarian, hug them and show them your appreciation. Ask them how you can support them or take them to a vegetarian restaurant for lunch to show them how much you value them. For those who are not ready to commit to a full vegetarian lifestyle, you can still enjoy it for a day to see what it's like. Plan three meals for the day that do not include meat, or if you want to become a vegan, which is even healthier, eliminate all dairy products, eggs, or other foods that may contain animal by-products. For many people, not eating meat is not as difficult as it may seem. Just remember to replace that meat with protein from other sources such as beans, legumes, soy, grains, nuts, seeds, vegetables, and more. Watch a vegetarian documentary to educate yourself on this important issue. Try these documentary films for more information and understanding: "Cowspiracy: The Sustainability Secret" (2014), which reveals hidden facts about the animal industry, its connection to climate destruction, and what can be done about it; "Earthlings" (2005), hosted by American actor Joaquin Phoenix, which exposes the basic economic benefits and dependence that people have on animals, as well as some graphic information about how poorly these animals are treated; and "Forks Over Knives" (2011), which explores the idea that most degenerative diseases can be controlled, or even reversed, by rejecting animal-based and processed foods.

Vyskúšajte sa na jeden deň stať vegetariánom a zvážte dôvody, prečo si vybrať tento životný štýl - zdravie, životné prostredie, finančná úspora a ďalšie. Existuje mnoho platných argumentov na podporu tohto postoja. Hug a Vegetarian Day pomáha ľuďom naučiť sa, čo to znamená žiť vegetariánskym životným štýlom. Životné prostredie a zdravie môžu mať veľké výhody z vylúčenia mäsa a živočíšnych produktov z jedálnička.

Rivers have been the foundation of the oldest civilizations. They provided a stable source of drinking water and fertile land for agriculture. They were also used for transportation and fishing. Today, rivers are seen as recreational and leisure spots in many cities, but in many parts of the world, people still depend on rivers for their livelihoods. The Mekong River, for example, provides sustenance for 60 million people. There are only 19 independent countries without a single river on their territory, most of which are islands. Eight countries, including Oman, Saudi Arabia, and Libya, have deserts and rely on intermittent riverbeds for water. Interestingly, the most common cause of death in deserts is drowning, as water can quickly flow through dried-up riverbeds during rainstorms. In the Czech Republic, most rivers are of female gender, except for the Elbe. International Rivers Day aims to raise awareness of the importance of rivers as a source of drinking water and unique ecosystems. It reminds us to preserve and protect these vital water resources.

Ensuring public health is a multifaceted challenge that requires expertise not only in the field of health threats that come from within. With the increasing number of severe weather events and nationwide outbreaks of foodborne illnesses, environmental health is coming to the forefront. Addressing environmental health issues such as climate change, food safety, water and air quality, and disease spread is one of the most important responsibilities of public health professionals. Local health organizations must be strong advocates for ongoing environmental health education, funding, and support.

World Environmental Health Day on September 26th is an opportunity for local health departments to educate their communities and partners, raise awareness about the biggest risks and issues in current environmental health, and stimulate discussion about steps people can take to protect the environment and ensure their safety.

Environmental health is a branch of public health that focuses on the health relationships between people and their environment. It promotes human health and well-being by supporting a safe and healthy built and natural environment. The discipline often includes work in areas such as climate change mitigation, hazardous materials management, land use planning, radiological health, food safety, exposure to toxic chemicals, recreational water disease prevention, and safe drinking water, among others. Environmental health professionals often work as epidemiologists, toxicologists, sanitarians, and industrial hygienists.

World Environmental Health Day, an initiative of the International Federation of Environmental Health (IFEH), is celebrated every year to not only raise awareness about the profession and the health threats that need to be addressed but also as an opportunity for organizations worldwide to come together and organize events that promote environmental health literacy.

The theme for 2023 is "Protecting Everyone's Health Every Day."

The overall disruption of the tourism industry caused by COVID-19 provides an opportunity to redefine and reassess the direction and narratives of investments in tourism for a more sustainable future for people, the planet, and prosperity. The World Tourism Day 2023, under the theme of Tourism and Green Investments, emphasizes the need for more and better-targeted investments for the Sustainable Development Goals, which are part of the UN's plan for a better world by 2030. Strategic investment opportunities for this triple dimension are enormous. Investing in education and skills is crucial for people, as the future global workforce in tourism will require millions of hospitality graduates annually by 2030, and an additional 800,000 jobs annually will require specialized training. Investing in sustainable infrastructure and accelerating green transformation is essential for the planet, as reducing emissions provides a $247 trillion investment opportunity by 2030 in the green building sector in developing markets, where hotels, resorts, and restaurants represent $15 trillion. Furthermore, tourism faces a much larger number of investment opportunities related to new solutions and technologies for decarbonizing the industry and ensuring climate-resilient infrastructure through adaptation solutions. Investing in innovation, technology, and entrepreneurship is vital for prosperity, as digitalization and innovation programs are a strategic priority for supporting the qualification of the tourism workforce, especially young people and women, and there is a global need to increase investments in programs that support and stimulate entrepreneurship and create opportunities for innovation. To succeed, let's make this World Tourism Day a call to action for the international community, governments, financial institutions, development partners, and private sector investors to come together around a new tourism investment strategy. Visit the UN World Tourism Organization's website for more information and digital materials for social media. Let's all contribute to supporting investments in tourism that aim to create a better world for all.

Celkové narušení odvětví cestovního ruchu způsobené COVID-19 poskytuje příležitost předefinovat a přehodnotit směr a příběhy investic do cestovního ruchu pro udržitelnější budoucnost pro lidi, planetu a prosperitu. Světový den cestovního ruchu 2023 zdůrazňuje potřebu většího počtu a lépe zacílených investic pro Cíle udržitelného rozvoje. Možnosti strategických investic jsou obrovské, a to jak pro lidi (investování do vzdělání a dovedností), tak pro planetu (investování do udržitelné infrastruktury a urychlení zelené transformace) a prosperitu (investování do inovací, technologií a podnikání). Abychom uspěli, je potřeba, aby se mezinárodní společenství, vlády, finanční instituce, rozvojoví partneři a investoři ze soukromého sektoru spojili kolem nové investiční strategie cestovního ruchu.
